on 1/28/2008 I understand that this is just a costume, but I have a bit to add. First of all, being punk is all about being original, and the vast majority of people that are original do not spend a ton of money on their clothes. I am the first to day that money may buy clothes, but it will NOT buy you an image. A huge part of looking punk is taking what you have and making it work. Now perhaps it is different where I live, but if you walked around wearing plaid pants and had penned on tattoos all over your body people would laugh. Punk is skinny jeans and jewelry that not every other wannabe is wearing. Another HUGE part of pulling off punk is your makeup. You can not get away with cheapy messed up eyeliner, especially the girls. Punks are some of the few people that can get away with surrounding the centimeter around their eyes with neon colored makeup in numerous colors. Hope this is helpful!

on 10/30/2007 also: to the cheerleader haters: if you "punks" are going to be that judgemental eat ****. I was a varsity cheerleaded for three years, captain my senior year and I did not "Bop around". Out of anyone, punks should try to be the most understanding of other people. Who the **** are you to judge another human being based only on what they wear or even more pervalently, their negative sterotype? Yeah, I understand that there are a ****LOAD of bitchy, vapid cheerleaders out there who are too quick to judge and demene. However, couldn't you say that there are also a ****load of "punks" that act the same way? Be what you preach.

on 10/30/2007 anyway, my point is that no one punk had any right to put restrictions or lables onto any other person, much less any other punk or their purpose. That said, it's ****ing Halloween. I was Bob Dole one year. That didn't mean that I was mocking his lifestyle, only being retarded. lol.

on 10/30/2007 yup so... yes. Punk is a way of life. true. but think about it. what is it really based on? historically, punks were not "non-conformists" per se. THey were just grungy ****ing kids who had radical ideas and ways of life. They dressed they way that they dressed to shock people into paying attention to their purpose, and had the attitudes that they had because of the way that most of them had been treated throughout their lives. THey saaw a need for change in many venues, not just fashion or music. Most punks were politically minded individuals who were not obsessed with not conforming in any way, but were instead people who were just pointing out what they saw as wrong. Many punks in the early days of the movement wore swastikas and other SS symbols as a way to point out what they felt the American and British gavernments were reverting to. The point was overhaul, and one punk was not

on 10/19/2007 Wow, what a bunch of whiners. It's just fun, people. You don't have to be "punk" to express your individuality. The fun of dressing up is to step outside of your daily norm and be something you're not for a night. But if being belligerent and overly sensitive is punk, then you've got it down pat.

on 10/10/2007 I think all you 'real' punks are just masking yourself because you don't have a personality or the looks to deal with life otherwise. For all you that think 'punk is a lifestyle, not a costume' can f* themselves. And, go ahead and dress like a cheerleader, idoit, that isn't a lifestyle either, it's a damn costume.

on 4/13/2007 its sad that all these "punkers" who are trying to stand out and live a "way of life" are so generic that they have the word punk in all of their little screen names....pathetic. As for dressing up as a cheerleader on holloween to the retard above i lot tof kids do...its sad when you all conform and you think you are being so original from everyone else...you just conform to non confromity...grow up losers!
