on 10/13/2008 10/13/2008 in DALLAS, TX. I was given the little black seeds by a friend and told they would produce a GIANT variety of Cockscomb and WOW. I now have 3 foot tall plants with very large flowers (bright pinkish purple). Try the BIG ones if you have the chance.

on 3/29/2008 to anonymous, how tall about was it when you snipped it? it's so hard for me to bring myself to actually cut off that first beautiful bloom that i've waited so long for. also was it the feather kind that's annual or the the perrenial fan shape kind? i know everyone says, even the florists, that there is no perrenial cockscomb. but i have some. i remember them when i was a little girl in the country. so i went back to my hometown and found a home that had it in their yard. i asked if i could have some seeds. they actually cut me off several blooms, big beautiful ones that were already seeding. it was fall. i shook the seeds out of the bloom.put in an envelope.planted the next spring. they have been coming back every yr.then tied the blooms upside down in my garage. in no time they dried. they've lasted for yrs in my dining room in a vase. look just like they did when i cut them!i've actua

on 11/22/2005 My cockscomb didn't grow a centimeter in 2 months. One day I nipped off the beautiful red plume (which dries beautifully) and now it is going like wildfire and more bushy than tall! Yipee!
