Return to article: How to Get Rid of Ringworm
on 5/9/2008 Ringworm is not a worm, so it sounds much scarier than it is. It's called "ringworm" because it usually forms in the shape of a ring with raised edges on the outer circle. But it's actually a fungus and not any kind of animal at all. So no need to panic. It's very common, you're not infected with worms. :-)
on 3/20/2008 Yes tinactin or lotrimin work well.
on 1/18/2007 I got ringworms all over my body. I used Lotriderm cream, but couldn't get rid of them all. I started applying bleach with a Q-tip on the stubborn areas (leave it on for ten minutes). Then I'll have shower and apply more Lotridirm. Tip: Do not apply bleach more than once per day or it'll burn your skin. Also change clothes often and wash them with bleach.
on 8/8/2006 I used to always have ringworms on my feet. I once used two tubes of different brands of anti fungal cream, it didn't cure my ringworm for about a month. Then I used a medicinal sulfur soap (2 times a day) and after a week it was gone, and has not returned since. Whenever I feel something is about to grow (starting to itch), I wash the area immediately with the same sulfur soap and nothing grows at all.
on 8/8/2006 My cousin is a wrestler and always gets ringworm a lot. He always uses Lotrimin. I had caught ringworm from him, and I used tea tree oil. I used it every time I was in the shower. I would let it sit on my ringworm spot for like two minutes, then I would rinse it off. When I was done with that, I would always use antibacterial soap. Following that, I would use Lotrimin 4 times a day and it cured me.
on 8/8/2006 Although indoor tanning isn't healthy for your skin, the UV helps kill ringworm. I get ringworm a lot from wrestling. I had a giant spot on my arm that wouldn't go away for 5 weeks using lotion. I went tanning for 4 sessions, once every two days - and it was gone. I've used this method and Lamisil since. If you haven't tanned before or don't approve of tanning, stick with creams. Take short showers and don't take baths. Keeping it moist helps it grow.
on 7/19/2006 For non-hair outbreaks, use Iodine. It works in a couple of days instead of weeks. It does not seem to work in the hair outbreaks very well. Once twice a day should do.
on 6/30/2006 I was at my house talking to my friends and I looked down and saw a reddish circle around my shoulder area. I showed my mother and she said it was nothing. It was something, something kinda scary. I was on vacation at my aunt's house, and she said I had ringworm. I felt sick to my stomach. Luckily, my aunt had Lotrimin at her house she said to put it on about 2-3 times a day. I did, and a couple of days later it seems to be clearing up!
on 11/22/2005 I am a wrestler. Ringworm is common to us. The best way to get rid of it is Lamasil. Lotrimin works, but Lamisil works the best. You can go to the doctor if you want (a waste of money) and ask for pills to take for it. The pills actually work the best, because they kill the bacteria faster and it makes it harder for you to get ringworm again (because the bacteria isn't in your blood anymore). The bad side to pills is that it can ruin your liver. I don't really want to take that chance, so that's why I use the Lamisil cream. It only takes a week or so to go away when you use the cream.
on 11/22/2005 Be sure that your cage has a warm side and a cool side preferably with a hide box on each side, so the snake will feel secure as well as comfortable. How warm and how cool actually depends on the type of snake you have. Do your research!
on 11/22/2005 I used the pulp from the black walnut for my ringworm. I rubbed some on the spot and bandaged it. That evening (6 hours later) I took off the bandage and the black walnut had taken two layers of skin off. I had to go to the emergency room to get treatment. Never use this, it is dangerous!
on 11/22/2005 I had a bad case of ringworm around my chin that looked absolutely horrible. I used Lotrimin AF anti fungal cream 2-3 times a day on the affected area and it cleared up in a week or two. Prior to use I cleaned my face with an antibacterial soap, I did two applications for normal days and three on hot days where I tended to sweat a lot. Just make sure the area is clean prior to applying the cream. You'll know it's healing when the ringworm area starts to dry up and flake off.
on 11/22/2005 My God-sister is three, and she has two sores. There is one on her neck and one on her arm. I put calamine lotion on them, and they are drying up fast.
on 11/22/2005 Our cattle seem to get ringworm around springtime, and I have also had it several times. I put iodine on it and cover it with a bandage. I do this twice a day, and in about 3-4 days it's gone. You can see the ring when you pull the bandage off. With the cattle, I use an animal iodine from the farm supply store and treat this as warranted. I don't cover the ringworm on the animal. Instead, I let the sun get at it.
on 11/22/2005 I got ringworm on my elbow and my knuckle. After many months of dealing with the unsightly itching & peeling, I applied Black Walnut extract directly on the spot of infection at night & let it air dry. It was gone in a couple of weeks and hasn't returned.
