Return to article: How to Run a Basketball Offense: Outside Pick and Roll
on 11/22/2005 This play is in a 1-3-1 set. Point guard brings the ball up to the top of the key. Shooting guard is at the left wing, 3-man at right wing. 4-man is the middle of the free throw line. The center is the left low post. As the point guard fakes a pass to the off guard and makes the pass to the 3-man. the 4-man then moves to the left high post to screen the 2-guard. the point then goes to the spot the 4-man was at. the 2-guard uses the double pick, and 3 passes the ball to 2. But at the same time. the 5-man sets a pick for 4 whose cuts to the basket also. If the 2-guard has the lay-up, go all the way. If he's guarded, he passes the ball to the 4-man for the shot.
on 11/22/2005 It's best to run this play out of the motion offense. This way you confuse the defense.
