Crossover - It looks extremely simple, but some defenders can be pretty tough to fight around. A tip to the crossover is to try to bring the ball upcourt in your weak hand, this will have the defender thinking you are for say a lefty when you are a righty. Then when you get to your defender quickly crossover to your dominant hand, this will let you have more control over the ball as you drive to the basket.

This dazzling move requires much practice. Bounce the ball one way, then go the other way, then bounce the ball back that way, then turn around and go the other way, after this go back the other way while bouncing the ball.

If you are a good shooter, this move won't fail. Start at the top of the key dribbling the ball with your dominant hand. If you are right handed drive right two steps beginning with your right foot. On the second step when you are on your left foot, cross the ball through your legs to your left hand. When the ball is moving to your left hand use your right leg to propel back landing on your left leg. Bring your right leg back also and look up toward the basket and bring your hands up like you are going to shoot (but don't actually touch the ball with both hands). When your defender jumps toward you, you can either put the ball through his legs, go around him or let him land and do it again. This move is very effective, but takes time to perfect.

Drive to the basket with either hand then quickly cross to the opposite side and take the lane. It's really effective when used right.

Start by facing the defender face-to-face. Do a few dribbles with speed to confuse the defender. Make sure the ball comes back to your strong hand. With the ball in your strong hand, do a spin move off your strong. Spin enough so that the back of your head is face to face with the defender. Once you have come to the end of your spin, release or drop the ball, this will cause the defender to think that you have lost control of the ball. The defender will dash in for the steal. When he does, quickly step over with your weak foot (your left hand should now be closer to the ball). Quickly grab the ball with your left hand and dribble it to your right hand (strong hand). Drive to the hoop.

Approach your opponent with speed. Fake to the right, while moving the ball and your arm to the left side behind your back. Let the ball bounce, and while your opponent goes for the ball, quickly bounce it with your left hand under your legs to the right hand, and drive it in for a lay up.

The perfect crossover consists of 3 things; speed, coordination and being able to read the defender. With these 3 skills, crossing over should be easy. My crossover is done like this: First, I play the defender by taking a few dribbles, intimidate him a little, then when he comes for the bite I quickly shift my body weight opposite of my strong hand and suddenly pull it back. It helps if you bend your knees while you shift your body weight, this can make the crossover more smooth.

Put the ball between your legs with your dominant hand. Use a strong fake twist toward that direction with a matching strong determined look. Feel with your dominant elbow if you are past your guard. Otherwise, give a slight nudge and burst away with a spin move in the opposite direction.

First, put your dominant arm about 90 degrees out, and have your weak arm on the side as a "helper hand." Then, flick the ball up, making sure it travels in an arc.

As you are dribbling the ball with your left hand, take a wide step to the left, accompanied by a good fake with the head. The ball should now be out to your left. The defender should have moved to your left, anticipating your drive. Cross him by quickly bringing the ball to your right. You have to be fast to do this.

Go one way, then step with your foot on the ball side as hard as you can, when the person moves; you change direction.

If you have a tight defender on you, pretend to pass the ball behind your back, lift up one of your legs and place the ball in the folded part of your leg, then kick the ball out and score.

Get about two feet of space between your defender. Have the ball at your right hand, send your arm and the ball to the left side, behind the back. Let the ball bounce behind your back, do a full turn. Then the defender will go for the ball, by this time you will grab the ball and spin over his back. Then do a layup or go back and he will go looking for you and you will be where you started from.
