on 11/22/2005 Take small white kitchen garbage bags and stuff a ball of newspaper into it to form a head; wrap a long twist-tie around the "neck" and use a felt marker to make two big black eyes. Hang in trees, along fences, etc.

on 11/22/2005 Empty and wash a white plastic milk carton. Turn it upside down and paint a ghost face with magic marker. Slide it down over a sheet-draped rod or wooden pole, then stick the pole in the ground or in a bale of hay.

on 11/22/2005 Use acrylic craft paint to paint ghosts, pumpkins and black cats on windows and glass doors. Washes off easily with window cleaner, plus kids enjoy helping!

on 11/22/2005 Have someone answer the door in a friendly (not scary) costume. While the person at the door is handing out treats, have someone in a dark, scary costume come up behind them. When the trick-or-treaters turn around, they usually jump pretty high.

on 11/22/2005 Have a person sit in a chair wearing something that looks scary. You can add fake blood and act fake, then when a person comes to ring the door bell, you jump. Only do this for older kids.

on 11/22/2005 Lay out rolls of sod on the grass upside down to look like freshly dug graves. Add a headstone and you're done!

on 11/22/2005 String fishing line from one tree to another & pull tight. Bend several clothes hangers in the shape of shoulders and a head and drape cheese cloth over it. Then cut the botton of the cloth unevenly. Use a black marker to color the eyes. Tie to your line.

on 11/22/2005 Purchase white and orange bulbs for use in your Christmas light set at Halloween. Use orange as the main color, and put a white bulb every 3 or 4 spaces. Place a carved pumpkin over the white lights! Enjoy.

on 11/22/2005 On Halloween day, get a few boxes of snaps and scatter them along your walkway. When children come to trick-or-treat, as they walk they will step on some and jump with surprise as the snaps pop under their feet.

on 11/22/2005 I tape large bubble wrap down (use duct tape or heavy packaging tape) on the walkway and wait to hear the surprised trick or treaters when they step on it. POP! POP! POP!

on 11/22/2005 Remember the squished witch? Stuff a pair of colorful knee high socks, insert legs into red high heels coated with red glitter, and insert legs into a black skirt. Tuck her by the foundation near your front door with a broom alongside.

on 11/22/2005 Tack up some black plastic as a background before you put your spider webs up. The spider webbing is far more visible with a black background! Weave in fall leaves for more color.

on 11/22/2005 Unused Halloween costumes and masks make spooky props. Stuff the costume with rags or paper, and use a balloon or Styrofoam wig for the head (with wigs and masks). Tie clear fishing line to the arms or legs and move them from a hidden area.

on 11/22/2005 Instead of trying to find dry ice for your witch's caldron, try this tip. You need dish soap, glycerin and a fish-tank pump. Fill pot (caldron) with some water, glycerin and dish soap. Turn on the pump. The bubbles will last all night!
