Return to article: How to Plan an Affordable Honeymoon
on 10/15/2008 These are really great ideas. I like the idea about traveling in the off-season. It'll cost less and be less crowded.
on 10/20/2007 Determine when to go! You don't always have to go on a honeymoon right away. We saved $1000 by waiting 5 - 6 months after.
on 8/8/2006 We are on a tight budget but discovered rather than stay at a hotel, stay at a resort. I surfed the web and found serveral resorts in Maine that have "housekeeping cottages" These cute little cottages do not have daily maid service but you do get fresh towels. Also they include full kitchens so you can cook your own meals and save money. We picked one near shopping and sites, yet with a indoor pool, hot tub, cable Tv etc. (I didn't want to feel like I was camping) and yet by going in an off season and renting by the week, we are spending less than $400 for our honeymoon on the coast of Maine! Also check out renting a condo in the area you want to go. There are many places that have cheap weekly rates and luxery amenities!
