hi.. i partitioned a new external hard disk of 1TB, bt in formatting it is taking so much time, already more than 1 hrs it has taken to do so.. i made 4 partition of 300, 300, 150 and 250 all are of GB size, why is it taking so much time to format it?????

hi Diane, how many drives can you see on your computer ? I have a C and E and the delete partition only works on the extended drive (partition) E. You might need to reformat your C drive using the procedure Formatting using the Windows XP Cd.

When I right click the partition and the window comes up the "Delete Partition" is not highlighted and thus cannot be used. I've tried to reformat the C Drive using the regular Windows Explorer function and cannot do so. I am at a loss about how to format the C Drive.

"Press any key to boot from CD.." this command is not appearing on my PC when i am trying to format from Windows XP c. Please tell me if there are any other alternatives. . . .

Hi, i'm trying format my hd, and the part to select the partition, I must select one (my only one), but the problem is, that partition is too small to do it. I got only free 419mb and I need 991mb. What should I do now? I cant delete it because it says an error, like "This partition has temporary files, there are needed to do the instalation". please somebody can help me? PS: excuse for my poor english.

If your FORMAT option is gray, you're in the wrong place. I did it too. Your option to go to the screen above flashed past too quickly in your boot procedure. Reboot and keep pressing F12 until you see the screen described above. Worked for me...hope it does for you too.
