on 11/22/2005 An easy way to ground the amplifier is to connect the ground wire to a bolt that holds a seat to the floor. It is easy to find, and convenient to work around.

on 11/22/2005 If you want to keep your car looking nice and sounding nice, pull up the seats and carpet before you start wiring. Run all your wires underneath the carpet. This way, they are not only out of sight, there is also not anything nearby that could harm them.

on 11/22/2005 A tradition I've started with evefy install I've done is putting a remote on/off switch. My reasons: like an overheating amp, or taking the car in for service..they dont play with the stereo if they dont know you got one!

on 11/22/2005 Determine speaker polarity by connecting it to a 1.5 volt battery. If the cone moves outward, the speaker polarity matches the battery polarity. If the cone moves inward, the speaker polarity is the reverse of the battery.

on 11/22/2005 Newer radios require that speaker hook-ups have both the positive and negative wires go straight to the radio. However on most older cars the negative leads for all of the speakers are hooked together.

on 11/22/2005 When installing your car stereo, if you really don't want to have it done professionally, don't take short-cuts! I'm a professional and have seen many people run power leads through their door until they short out against the hinge.

on 11/22/2005 The easiest way to get around that firewall is to simply go through your fender! If your fender is hollow and you can see down into the fender when your door is open, simply slide the wire through there!
