on 11/22/2005 Get in a comfortable position that works for you. Don't think that, just because the lotus style looks cool, it'll help you relax. That's a good way to hurt yourself.

on 11/22/2005 Begin your meditative moments by choosing an object or activity that clears away negative thoughts. The object should be soft and used in a rhythmic motion. A feather duster, a broom made of layers of silk, or, while exhaling, blow them away.

on 11/22/2005 I've learned to imagine myself moving to different places. For example, imagine viewing your house from the outside, then your block, then about a mile radius around your house etc. Helps tune out distractions and get you unfocused.

on 11/22/2005 I lay on my back with a pair of lightweight headphones and listen to ambient music on my portable CD player. It allows me to enjoy long periods of meditation, especially when going to sleep at night.

on 11/22/2005 Some yoga experts relax their body and mind by standing on their head for about 10 minutes. It's good for the muscles and the heart and gives your brain the much-needed blood and oxygen. I found it makes meditation much more calm and enjoyable.

on 11/22/2005 Lie on your back with your feet flat on the floor or elevated. Imagine a hole in your back, now imaging all your bad energy, sore muscles, pain, problems, ect. running out of that hole. This really works good if you focus and relax.

on 11/22/2005 Sit in a selected place, relax your body by instructing your muscles to relax, start at your head, work to your feet. To relax your mind count down from 20 and focus on the shape of the number, continue this until you drift into a state of nothingness.

on 11/22/2005 Once you have learnt how to meditate, you should be able to do it anywhere, even for short durations, eg. whilst waiting for an appointment, etc. Music, location, etc. are habit forming; hence, it is better to consciously manage in varying situations.

on 11/22/2005 Choose an instrumental piece when meditating, as lyrics may interrupt your concentration. A simple repeated pattern will help you to focus better.
