on 2/24/2007 I've seen PC software that will help you get a great jump shot. You enter pictures of yourself doing your shot and it shows you where to improve. I found it on http://www.betterjumpshot.com

on 8/8/2006 To shoot correctly, you need to :(1. Get your elbow in. Most people stick it out to ward off defenders. (2 Use Your Legs. Try shooting without your legs at the trey, it won't go in. That is why you use your legs. Try to look at Vince Carter when he shoots his FT's, he doesn't use his legs, his arms are strong because he makes them.If he did use his legs he would be awesome at the charity stripe. (3. Look At Target. What I look at is right betwwen the front and back of rim which is a space in the box of the backoard. This is like aiming at the back of the rim because you be hitting the back every time. But since you aim between the front and back of rim, you have higher arc and should swish it. (4.Follow-Through. Your mid finger should be in the mid of the basketball.

on 8/8/2006 Aim your shot at the front of the rim and snap your wrist so the ball goes up. You don't want the ball to look like a line drive, if it does, you're shooting with too much of your palm rather than your fingertips.

on 8/8/2006 When you start your jump shot, you have to bend your knees to get the necessary power to get the ball to the hoop. Make sure that you end with your arm high (not straight up).

on 8/8/2006 When shooting, aim to the other side of the ring and a little down of it. This makes the ball go directly in when it hits the spot. Also, just before you make the shot, imagine the ball is going in. I have done this many times and it works!!

on 8/8/2006 When going into a jump shot, make sure your feet are facing the basket at the start of your jump (which makes for better accuracy. When bringing your arms up from your chest, bring them up straight, otherwise your shot will be crooked, hitting the left or right side of the rim. Balance is one of the big factors in shooting.

on 1/9/2008 When you are attempting a jump shot, don't think about it. Let your natural motion take place, providing that you have already have an idea of the fundamentals of shooting. Too much thinking will result in an off balance shot. Do not change your natural shot - take it from someone who completely messed up his shot when changing it every week.

on 6/30/2006 If you struggle trying to do a jump shot, try to look at videos of great jump shooters, like; John Paxson or Steve Kerr attempting a jump shot and try to memorize their forms to help you out with your jump shot. This helped me a lot. Good luck!

on 6/30/2006 1. KEEP YOUR ELBOW IN!

2. shoot up not out( this doesn't mean shoot straight up, just shoot a little more upwards)

3. follow through, keep your hand in a c formation until the ball hits the net (just don't keep it out after that cause then people will think your showing off)

on 6/30/2006 What many people overlook is that when you keep your feet together you get a better shot. All I'll say is that I'm not exactly the best shooter on the block, but when I keep my feet together I make every single one of my shots.

on 4/3/2006 When shooting your freethrow, have your feet shoulder width apart. Usually, on hardwood floors, there is a nail that aligns perfectly with the basket. Place your dominate foot there.
Keep your elbow in, use your legs, and do not use your non-shooting arm to apply force. The power should all come from your legs and arms. Using your pointing finger, and your dominate foot pointing toward the basket, you should almost always have great accuracy.
Also, when getting a freethrow into rhythm, formulate your own procedure. Like: Dribble, dribble, spin.
But when your doing this, always keep the ball in motion.
So:
Dribble
Dribble
Spin
Shoot (Right away do not stop and hold the ball)

on 4/2/2006 Try wrapping sports tape around your ring and pinky fingers of your shooting arm. Do the drill where you lay on your back and shoot the ball into the air. Do that about a hundred times. Now take the tape off. This will help you get a better grip on the ball.

on 3/27/2006 Have your bad hand keep the ball in place, while the finger pads of your good hand rest under the ball.

on 4/3/2006 This fake only works if you're a point guard operating on zone defenses. If a play that you run has the option for the point guard to pass the ball to the wingman every once and a while, the point guard should do a simple pass fake and it will leave the point guard just enough space to shoot the jump shot.

on 3/26/2006 When shooting, always keep your hand tucked in. The next big thing is to follow through, just imagine your putting your hand in the cookie jar.
