This is a great article. Helping a family in need at the holidays is a educational and rewarding experience. You can even give it as a gift to a friend: give your friend a card that says "With the money I would have used on your gift, we fed a family of four for Christmas." Thanks for posting.

Great article for sharing the holidays with others who are struggling. We did this kind of thing last year. I love it... it makes me feel warm and fuzzy! ;o)

When my daughter was in Children's Hospital groups, families or businesses would send in volunteers to make a meal at the Ronald McDonald House. This is such a help to families dealing with sick children. The leftovers are put away for reheating for those who can't be there at the allotted meal time or for eating later. Most organizations call ahead and set up an available time and put on a schedule for the meal. It is very rewarding to those who volunteer and means the world to those of us who have to be away from our kitchens at home, dealing with sick/disabled children. I volunteer often but I would like to say thanks to all of you who do these wonderful acts of kindness. Great article!

Excellent suggestions on how to find and sponsor a family in need for the holidays. Another way to help those in need at the holidays is to volunteer to serve food at shelters and soup kitchens at Thanksgiving and Christmas. For many needy families, these free meals are the only holiday meal they will receive. If you can volunteer, it's a rewarding experience. 5*
