on 9/29/2007 To wrap for overnight wearing of paste (to insure a darker, longer lasting design), I use paper surgical tape (1"-wide) wrapped well. Works great and is much better than a non-porous wrap which can make you sweat and smear the paste... something you don't want to do after all that hard work! :o)

on 8/8/2006 Try lavender or cajeput essential oil instead for your terp. Use sugar or honey in the henna paste itself to get it to stick onto the skin longer. Definitely lemon/sugar seal it to make it stick to skin as long as possible. If caffeine doesn't bother you, try mixing paste with black tea or coffee. Never, ever let anyone put black henna on you -- anything with PPD chemicals mixed in is bad news. Try different applicators: hand rolled mylar cones or j-bottles or icing bags. Before showers or going swimming or hot tubbing, protect your henna stain with tiger balm, olive oil, almond oil or Vaseline -- but avoid baby oils and hand lotions. Try mixing your pastes with different powders: henna from Yemen will be different from Pakistan, etc. Mix, match, play!

on 7/21/2006 While the paste is drying, apply sugar water every now and then; it will make it moist and stay longer.

on 11/22/2005 If you allow the henna to dry and peel off by itself, the results will be better. Don't play or mess with it! Before taking a shower, rub some petroleum jelly on top of the tattoo and make sure you rub some lotion on it every day! If you follow these instructions, your henna tattoo will be a lot better!

on 11/22/2005 Here are some special trade secrets to beautiful henna: While making the paste, use tea instead of water. Also, mix in several drops of eucalyptus essence. After the henna is on your hands, frequently dab (using cotton balls) with lemon juice and sugar water. This ensures a longer lasting design.

on 11/22/2005 It sometimes doesn't matter how dark you try to make your henna. If you have a naturally fair skin tone, it will come out better and last longer. Also, rubbing a mixture of lemon and sugar on your drying henna all day will make it last much longer.

on 11/22/2005 A few drops of eucalyptus oil in the paste will make your henna come out darker. Also, wrapping your hand in a plastic bag overnight will cause you to sweat and keep the henna wet and fresh. (I know it sounds gross, but it's not and it works.)
