Return to article: How to Clean a Sewing Machine
on 9/20/2008 I'm an avid sewer and I'll vouch that regular maintenance will make your projects a breeze! Thanks!
on 5/4/2008 Instead of using canned air to clear the lint from the bobbin area, use a vacuum cleaner. Canned air can actually force the lint deeper into your machine.
on 11/22/2005 When a new pattern is purchased I remove the envelope and place it in a page protector, then insert it into the appropriate 3-ring binder; i.e., skirts, dresses, slacks. I then put the pattern and instructions in a zip-lock bag and place it into the appropriate box, i.e., Vogue, Burda, Butterick, in numerical order. Because I have so many patterns, this system works well when determining what my next project will be. Hope this helps those of you who are addicted to buying patterns.
on 11/22/2005 Once you have cleaned your sewing machine and you are done sewing for the day, cover it with an inexpensive plastic cover (found at most sewing stores).
