@johncorning: Great pointer. I didn't believe this when researching online. There is so much crap sold around shoe odor issues. But this UV thing then showed up at my DPMs practise and he let me try it for a few days. I use this for my daughters shoes (and now also in my own). This shoe tree works like a charm. The odor problem is greatly reduced. Expensive but worth it. My DPM sells them in her office (Dr. Pate in San Jose). -

I found something on Amazon the other day that kills the bacteria causing the odor. I have used it for 3+ month. The device is called Sterishoe and simply uses UV light to kill the bacteria inside your shoe that cause the odor. This is so much more convenient then the sprays and powders from the old days. The thing is sold on Amazon. Just search for Sterishoe. -

Had a continuing problem with my Ecco sandels smelling bad. Tried a number of remidies fond on the internet. What worked was using "Natures Miracle" a pet urin deoderizer. I used it on my sandels after every use and eliminated the problem. I subsequently tried applying it directly to the bottom of my feet and seem to permanently elimitated the problem. Sounds crazy, but whatever they use to kill the bacteria from cat urin seems to work great on feet. -

When I was a teenager I had a bad foot order problem. I had a doctor tell me what was a big cause was the dye in the socks, not really from keeping your feet clean. Your feet sweat a lot and it interacts with the dye. I live here in Las Vegas and only wear white socks, plus because of my handicap I have to wear over the ankle lace up boots. I've never had any foot odor problem, though I should walking around in tempatures in the 100s all summer long. So my advice is to quit being such a prima donna worrying about your socks matching your purse and be a real man. -

Check out Diva Diamondz for shoes. This fabulous product removes odor and moisture leaving shoes healthier and better for your feet. Diva Diamondz absorb all the odor and moisture and are renewable and reusable. The volcanic mineral inside the diamondz draw all the "funk" out of the shoe and store it. When the pouch starts ot smell, simply place it in the sun for the day and reuse. -

I have used this technique since I was child. Every time I wear a shoe, I bring out the insole and wrap the front part with toilet tissue for 2/3 round. And I throw away the wet tissue papers from inside every night I got to sleep. I guarantee you it works like magic. -

When not wearing your shoes, place any brand (including store brand) of fabric softener sheet into each shoe. You may have to experiment with different brands to find a fragrance you like, because your closet will also smell like the fabric softener sheets, which you have to admit is better than smelling like stinky feet. These also make nice drawer fresheners. -

For shoes w/ fabric inner linings, pour some bleach inside and let them dry before wearing. -

I used to throw shoes away due to odor. Now I use cedar (not plastic) shoe trees because the cedar absorbs the moisture. Make sure the cedar shoe tree is large enough for your shoes; they should be a tight fit. I also never wear the same shoes two days in a row. -

The best thing that has worked for me is to use Odor Eaters. When you get a new pair of shoes, put a pair of Odor Eaters (or the brand of your choice) in them. When the shoes start to stink, remove the Odor Eater, toss it, and add a new one. If you don't do this, a lot sweat gets absorbed by your shoes' insoles - and sweat leads to bacteria. -

place an un-used tea bag in each shoe,ye you heard it un-used,it really does work, try it. -

I know this sounds like it would only make the problem worse, but it works for me. Soak your feet in warm soapy water with approximately 2 cups vinegar. Do this once every couple of weeks, and the problem is solved. -

Wash the inside of your shoes with laundry soap and a small brush. Let the shoes dry in front of a fan (set on high) overnight. In the morning they should be dry. Spray the insides of the shoes with Lysol disinfectant spray, let them dry again. All of your socks must be washed in bleach and hot water! Put Gold Bond powder inside your socks! You want to always wear socks, and try to find shoes and socks that will provide some ventilation. Scrub your feet with an antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day, and wear fresh socks. Your foot odor problem will be gone! -

Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray down the insides of your smelly sneakers. (Warning: Too much alcohol could cause colors on your sneakers to run.) Let your sneakers sit in front of a fan and dry. Spraying down the insides of your sneakers with alcohol kills odor-causing bacteria and completely dries them out. Just be careful to empty the spray bottle when you're done, you don't want to confuse that bottle of rubbing alcohol for water! -

I have an ultimate capacity clothes dryer that came with a shoe drying rack. The rack is inserted into the dryer and the shoes are placed on the rack. The drum rotates and heats while the rack stays stationary. A quick 10 minute touch-up will dry your dress shoes after a day of wear.
