Return to article: How to Make CD Ornaments
on 11/12/2007 Great article! I'm going to try this with my kids!
on 11/22/2005 If you're cutting a CD, it will have sharp edges, be careful around children. You might want to use a nail file, or maybe sand paper, to smooth the edges a bit.
on 11/22/2005 Start out with a plain CD. Use a colored ribbon strung through the center for a hanger. Put a bow in the center on top of the ribbon. Glue scented potpourri around the bow; drizzle with glue and sprinkle with glitter; then hang on your tree.
on 11/22/2005 Cut felt the size of the CD to glue onto the printed side of the CD. Press hand into paint and place it on the shiny side of the CD. You can then paint the date on the CD also.
on 11/22/2005 Cut felt the shape of the CD and glue it to the side that has all of the writing on it. On the shiny side, cut a child's picture in a circle to glue into the middle of the CD. Then decorate around the picture with paint or glue and glitter.
on 11/22/2005 After cutting the CD to make an ornament, use rubber stamps, pigment ink, and embossing powder to stamp an image into the "shiny" side of the CD with pigment ink. Sprinkle embossing powder on the stamped image and heat with a heat tool.Very cool!
on 11/22/2005 Use glitter fabric paint on a CD. Paint a snowflake design. Attach a 6-inch piece of thread to top for a hanger. Glue a piece of holiday fabric to the back to cover the hanger. Hang ornament on tree. The ornament will glimmer with the tree lights.
on 11/22/2005 Fit a clock movement to an old CD for a different and unusual clock.
