on 11/2/2009 I thought you did extremely well. I just wrote an article similar to this before I read yours. My article offers some additional insight as well. I think what another commenter was missing was that anyone that is not in it for the dogs and only for money is technically similar to a "Puppy Mill." Another word of caution is that there are also good and bad breeders. I got a pair of pups some years ago from a breeder who left them in hay and in a shed. It was obvious that they hadn't worked with them at all. I paid $400, but I probably paid a lot more to retrain them for housebreaking and to get rid of some of their other issues. They turned out to be excellent dogs though. My latest has champion show bloodlines and there is a HUGE difference in her temperament and ease of training. on 7/31/2009 You had a few good points regarding recognizing 'Puppy Mills', but generally this just seems like an emotional mess of jumbled words. The title clearly and concisely stated that the article would explain how to identify different types of breeders, but most of it was a compare/contrast article bashing puppy mills and praising 'Good and Reputable Breeders'.
