Return to article: How to Select a Gift for a 10-Year-Old Girl
on 10/7/2008 I'd like to suggest a safe web site for girls called www.kidscom.com where my daughter has fun but I know she is safe and learning good things. She has a virtual pet there like the other sites, but it is called Hope and sends her messages that encourage her when she needs it. And best of all, when I got her a gift certificate there, I got a Mom web site where I can send her special rewards.
on 3/20/2008 I would recommend trying www.GiftGen.com for gift suggestions.
on 11/22/2005 It's easy for girls this age to rush into their teens a bit early and my granddaughter is no exception. I try to introduce her to activities that are "ageless". I set a theme and center her gifts around that. For example, her birthday theme was photography. A simple flash camera, film, photo album and a certificate for developing was met with great smiles. This allows her to discover her creativity and develop organizational skills. For Christmas, the decided theme is rock-hounding. A field guide, jeweler's loop, a small pick and divided organizing box with labels and marker will equip her for our first outing. Exposing children of any age to new activities that keep them grounded is smart and sensible.
