People that are having trouble with keeping the board beneath them: I had this same problem until I realised that when I popped, I was scooping too early causing the board to turn slightly on the ground before going into the air. It made the board move away from underneath me. All I had to do was create a slight delay between the pop and the scoop and the problem was solved. -

Try to scoop it and not flip it to the side. Almost scoop the board under you and it will stay under you. Try to scoop it a little to the side though and it will rotate almost perfectly. Um also try it when you are rolling I find that it works better -

Place your front foot in the middle of the board and the back foot on the tail. Try and scoop your tail for maximum pop and slide your front foot off. Try and keep your front foot stationary so when the tail of the board flicks up your front foot will be ready to catch it. Stomp it on the bolts and roll away. -

When doing any trick, including the pop shove-it, your instinctive feeling is not to land on the skateboard. Your instincts make your legs hesitate, messing up your trick. This was a huge problem with me. Do the trick and don't think about injuries. Once you get over that instinctive hesitation you should land many tricks. -

Place the tip of your toe on the tail of the board. Place your front foot like you would for an ollie, except a little to the side. Pop the tail with your back foot and slide your front foot off the side of the nose. Your instinct will tell you to move to the side, but stay level. -

First time I tried it, the board didn't turn properly and I landed on the board when it was on it's side and twisted my foot. That seriously hurt. But I guess you shouldn't be afraid of hurting yourself, as long as you're wearing pads. -

When you are in the air, always spin with the board. If it goes left; you go left. -

When doing a pop shove-it, don't try to ollie and kick it to make it spin. As you ollie push your foot toward your body (or away, but toward is easier for most people) to make it spin. This will enable you to catch it higher with less effort. -

Do a manual at a slow speed (or even stationary). Try to lift your weight off the board by jumping, but not letting your feet lift off the board. Have your back foot take full use of the grip on the skateboard and behind you. At the same time, gently but quickly, push your front leg forward. Both movements of the feet will resolve in the board rotating. After the board has traveled 180 degrees, slam both of your feet down. You now have landed it. If you have a mini-skateboard, it is better to start practicing with that. -

Do a normal 180 kick turn, then jump round 180 to face the same way as you started.Keep practising until you can synchronize these two.
