I've found out that you can get higher if your board has lots of pop (curving at the ends of the board). The more pop your board has, the easier it is to get the board off the ground!

If you are just learning, try doing an ollie in the grass, so that if you fall, it won't be as hard as concrete.

When you pop your board to do an ollie, don't take your back foot off the board. Push your foot down to pop the board and jump, then just slide up your front foot and you can do an ollie.

When doing a regular ollie, make sure that you: 1. Tap down the tail as quickly as possible (a nice snap should be heard). 2. After the tail tap, lean slightly forward and roll your front foot up the board to the trucks. 3. Make it all one fluent motion.

Everybody says to slide your foot up, but you think it's harder than that. Well, it's actually easy. Slam the tail down, then instead of sliding your foot, pick it up and slam the front tail. It works for me and I can jump on a curb! Practice--you'll get good.

Put the toe of your front foot right near the trucks, so that your foot is angled. Next, slam your back foot down until you hear a nice solid "clack." The harder and faster you slide your front foot up, the higher you will go. Do not get frustrated. Land with your knees bent.

I've been sk8teing for a week and 1/2 and I found out that if you put the tip of your shoe (your toe) on the tail on the heel side, it helps. Bend your knees and pop hard, then just jump as high as you can and just even out the board.

    1) Put your feet in kickflip position. 2) Do a 180 spin and spin with the board. 3) As soon as the board goes 90 degrees, kick it like a kickflip and jump as high as you can. 4) Stay as straight as possible and when you land, bend your knees a little to keep your balance.

If you are a girl and skateboard, more power to you! Girls should be more aggressive. Be powerful! And if any low life boy tries to make fun of you 'cause you are a girl and skateboard, punch them ;-)

losen the bolt on the trucks to allow easy steering and a smoother ride.

First, find a crack in cement and place your back wheels in it. Slam the tail down. When you hear the tail hit, pull your back leg up to your chest. Then slide your front foot forward. Then let the back hit your back foot then slam the board back down.

put your back foot on the tail and front foot just behind the front truks in a jumping motion slam on the tail just before the tail hits the gruond slide your front toe up the board in air even out and land back on the ground with both feet on the board

I was on this site a week ago and now I know how to do it. Pop the tail down, then slide your foot forward, try to keep your waist straight and jump.
  • Nov 22, 2005
start with your front foot far back, then when you kick the tail down try to get the board almost vertical, and jump high forward. It may not work for beginners, make sure your front foot keeps a grip on the board or it will slide up through your legs.

An easy rolling board is hard to ollie while standing, so I tried it while moving. I found this much easier. You don't need to stop the board by pushing the tail all the way to the ground (which may cause you to fall over). While you are learning, push the tail almost to the ground and jump. This will make the tail touch the ground. Before it does, quickly slide your front foot forwards and even out the board. When you land, bend your knees or you will fall.

Put your front foot in the middle of your board in between a 90 and 45 degree angle. Your back foot should be on the very tip of your tail with all the pressure on the ball of your foot. Pop down on the tail and as you start to do it slide your front foot

For starters, begin on gravel or anything that doesn't make the board move. Your back foot should be on the tail at the point right before it hangs off the edge, and your front foot should be halfway down the skateboard. You may feel a bit unbalanced but it will become easier with time. Next, you must crouch down slightly, bending at the knees. Start off leaning back with a strong push down upon the tail so that it touches the ground. Jump up while sliding your front foot up towards the nose or front of the skateboard. The higher you jump, the higher your ollie will be. You must do these steps in one single motion.

-Place your FRONT foot in the middle of the board. -Step the tail hard. -As you are in the air, push your leg up the board. -At the end, push it down till the board lands its front wheels first.

I have been skating for about 5 weeks but never could do a ollie. It's very easy, just follow the directions of the other tips. But after I read all of the tips I still couldn't do it. My biggest mistake was I was too worried about what people would say if I messed up, so this is my tip: Practice with no one watching and then with a friend or family member watching that will make it easier. After that, do it with a group of people, just pretend they're not there.

Relax...Put your foot on the tail and the other just behind the front truck. Push down and lean forward.

When you practice doing the ollie, practice in the grass! Trust me.
