I have been skating for about 5 weeks but never could do a ollie. It's very easy, just follow the directions of the other tips. But after I read all of the tips I still couldn't do it. My biggest mistake was I was too worried about what people would say if I messed up, so this is my tip: Practice with no one watching and then with a friend or family member watching that will make it easier. After that, do it with a group of people, just pretend they're not there. -

Relax...Put your foot on the tail and the other just behind the front truck. Push down and lean forward. -

When you practice doing the ollie, practice in the grass! Trust me. -

When you ollie, put one foot on the middle of the deck and the other on the tail. You can put your feet half or all the way on - whatever feels good to you. Smack the tail down; move your foot up the deck; and push slightly with your front foot. -

I was a bad skater, but practice really helped me get the feel of it. I put my first foot nearer to the front truck. If it worked for me, it can work for you. -

Remember that when you slide your front foot up to the nose, don't keep your foot flat. Instead, turn it sideways making it so you will pull your board up, instead of pushing your board out from under you. -

Reading all of these tips, and looking at people do an ollie will help you a lot. Be very observant, and go to skate parks and watch, then try yourself. This technique works for every trick and has made everything much easier for me. I can now do some pretty sweet vert and street tricks, and am practicing a darkslide. -

if you try to do tricks in the grass, you'll regret it. What happens is that grass and mud get in the skateboard's bearings and it stops up your wheels. I like to practice in the gravel, it has the same effect as grass, but is much less messy. -

The ollie is not a complicated trick. The first step is to get your feet into the right position. Put your front foot across the middle of the board and the balls of your back foot on the tail. Push down with your back foot until the tail is hitting the ground. At the same time jump and slide your front foot up, until it hits the nose of the board. Level out and land by bending your knees, this will reduce the shock. -

When I was first learning to ollie, I could never seem to get it rolling. So what I did was skate heading up a hill and wait for gravity to almost stop me then ollie and ride back down. This helped me to get used to the feeling of landing and rolling at the same time. -

If you jump higher when ollieing the u will pick up much more height -

To do an awesome ollie, first make sure your have the proper footing down. If your footing is bad you might get hurt. The closer you put your front foot to the tail the higher it goes, but don't put it too close. Flick the board down hard, but not too hard. Quickly move your right foot up and push down. If your standard, put your left foot closer to the tail. Hint: If you're goofy, your left foot is at the tail. Standard is when your right foot is at the tail. -

You can't just slam at your tail. Sliding gives you a lot more air. It may take practice but it's worth it. My friend used to slam at the tail, and now that he slides his foot he can ollie a lot higher. -

My local skateshop guy gave me a couple great tips, and now I'm getting about 2 feet in motion. Practice with your back wheels in a sidewalk crack, or grabbing onto a fence. If you get going and get frustrated, sit down. You won't do as good slowing down. Never practice motion ollies downhill at first. Even a slight hill will cause you to pick up speed. Lean forward, and push your legs out in front of your body. Crouch down, too. -

A) I couldn't do an ollie because I practiced the wrong way. You can practice a lot and not get better if you are doing the wrong thing. Try to realize what you are doing wrong. B) Remember that popping the board will only bring the board up so high, so you need to level your board out . C) Lifting your back foot high is necessary. D) You have to jump with a lot of power, the more power with proper ollying brings height. E) Never give up. In the end you will get it. -Shane -

Practice step by step. When kicking the board up, think about kicking the tail, and jump before it hits the ground. You can also put your front foot on the front truck. After kicking the back, push your front foot foward. -

* First, place your front foot in the middle of the front bolts. * Next, place your back foot as far back as possible without having the side of your foot hang off. * You do want the back of your foot to hang off, so only have the front half of your foot on the board. * Now that you have your stance, you'll need to know how to do the trick. * Bend your knees. * Take your back foot and slam it down on the tail to pop the board up in a vertical motion. * Drag your front foot towards the nose to level out the board. * The tail should come up and hit your back foot, so keep it where it is. * Wait until you get both feet back on the board before landing. * When you hit the ground, make sure to bend your knees to absorb the shock. It is better to learn the trick while moving, because it will be easier to ollie standing still once you learn how to ollie moving. -

i have been skating for a while now and i found out if you lean more toward the front your back wheels get higher. -

Okay, so you've got the board, and now you need to ollie. This is what you do. 1. Figure out what kind of stance you've got. 2. Place your front foot in the middle of the board and your back foot on the tail. 3. Now, just relax and hit the tail down and try to slide your front foot up the board. A lot of skaters think too much so they never learn it. So be stupid. 4. Go find some stairs and get to it. -

Put your front foot in the middle of the board, halfway off of the side. Put your back foot in the middle of the tail's arch, also halfway off the side. Remember to stay relaxed. Crouch down. You should only be in your crouch for a maximum of 1 1/2 seconds. Then, bang the tail end on the ground and at the same time slide your front foot forward. When you slide, the side of your shoe sole should be sliding. NEVER slide with the bottom of your shoe sole, unless you want the board to whack you super hard in the leg. Try this tip, and if you like it, impress your friends and tell them about it! Unless you have mastered ollieing, always wear a helmet. -

Doing an ollie is an essential to skateboarding. First you need a good skateboard, then practice on carpeting or on the grass. Pop the skateboards tail down hard, while your front foot is in the middle of the board. Once you pop the tail down hard, slide your front foot forward and jump with the board. Make sure you land with your knees bent. -

Well, doing an ollie isn't that hard. I started three days ago. All I did was just follow the steps on this site (which was pretty easy thanks to the pictures). Just put your front foot half way on the board and the back foot on the tail. When you put down your back foot, jump quickly with your left and pull your legs up as high as you can. -

Dont forget after you've draged your foot forward and the front of the board has come off the ground to pick up yuo back foot more than an inch.Ive seen so many people that are too scared. -

Do not put your front foot back too far. If you do, and you land without moving your foot back quick enough, the board will snap.
