on 10/11/2009 Sites such as the one below are not recommended. Many debt companies who help eliminate debt charge a large fee. You can negotiate with your creditors yourself for a smaller payment or total amount due and there is no need to pay a company to do this for you.

on 6/16/2009 Good tips. It is always best to try to lower your debt on your own without the help of a credit agency. If you do use one, make sure there are no up-front fees because if there are then the agency is not legitimate.
