on 7/30/2006 You must know if the curb, rail, or anything you're trying to grind can be done so. If you are not at a skate park, you will most likely need some wax to even make you trucks slide. Also, if you are planing to grind a curb, make sure that it's not a rocky curb.

on 7/23/2006 First you want to know for a fact that you'll be able to grind across the object if not wax it down. Then you'll want to be sure there are no notches out of the curb your you'll stop dead in your tracks. Then figure the angle and get some speed and ollie up onto it. Make sure you don't put all of your weight onto the board. Then to turn out, push down on the tail, but don't smack your tail down. Then turn your front shoulder out the way you want to land.

on 11/22/2005 The first time you try to 50-50, try it slowly to see if it will slide. Then get a ton of speed and olie on to the ledge.

on 11/22/2005 Approach the curb, ledge, rail, or handrail at whatever angle feels comfortable (if you are beginning to skate, ride parallel to the object). Then, pop an ollie and center your weight. Land on the object (you must have a considerable amount of speed to actually grind). Once you have ground then pivot out or ollie, absorb the landing, and roll away.

on 11/22/2005 Most begginers try to do a 50-50 and end up performing a boardslide, to prevent this, once you ollie, move your body to the way the rail or curb is facing, this will prevent you from sliding off your board unexpectedly, keep practice and gain confidence, and always rmeember to have fun.

on 11/22/2005 Ride slowly until you know you're at the right angle to grind. When you are ready, go fast and start to ollie just a bit higher than the object. Slam the trucks on the rail and then manual off.

on 11/22/2005 When doing a 50/50, don't try to move too fast at first. Start off by ollieing onto the curb and pivoting off. Gradually work on your speed when you are comfortable with getting on and pivoting off.

on 11/22/2005 If you get too close, you will fall off your skateboard and smack yourself on the rail. I learned this the hard way.

on 11/22/2005 When you first do a 50-50, make sure the board can slide on it without getting stuck. Then ollie onto the rail or ledge, keep your balance centered and watch the path of where you are leading. At the end of the grind do an ollie, but not too much of an ollie and ride off.

on 11/22/2005 I go up the ramp or roll to a curb and when I go up on the flat part, I turn and come back down on the ledge of the ramp (it is one of those ramps that goes up then straight then comes down on the other side). About the curb--just go to it and turn your board so you 50/50 on it, but you might stop dead in your tracks so get a lot of speed.

on 11/22/2005 When you first start to 50-50, just stand on your skateboard next to the ledge and keep practicing by just ollying onto it and pivoting off. Doing this will raise your confidence so that you will be able to do it going along. Have fun!

on 11/22/2005 When you first do a fifty-fifty grind, you may fall, but get back up and try it again.
