on 11/22/2005 In a 4-4 defense you cannot allow weak side backers to over pursue. This creates a major cutback lane for any decent running back. The backside linebackers have to honor any cutbacks reverses, throwbacks, and tight end pass releases. Backside linebackers should be coached to shuffle their fee and not crossover, to keep them in the area of play.

on 8/6/2007 This defense can also use a strong safety instead of an extra linebacker. This allows for better coverage in passing situations while still attacking the line of scrimmage.

on 11/22/2005 This is an excellent defense to run stunts and attack an offense with to create turnovers and disrupt blocking assignments.
