on 11/13/2008 Next time I think I'm going to build on the bun in oven idea by taking a picture of the oven, a picture of the bun and a picture of me to make it into a 'picture equation'. BUN + OVEN = ME!

on 11/13/2008 I created a Powerpoint presentation with a construction theme on page one that said, "Our home will be expanding by two feet..." Then the next page had two little footprints and I wrote "two very tiny feet." Page three had a photo of the positive pregnancy test next to the clock that had the time and date on it. My husband LOVED it! What was especially cool is we had a double date planned for that night, and all night we kept giving each other knowing looks and squeezes!

on 8/9/2008 I work for a really cool company that specializes in scents! kind of like candles but much safer around children- its a home fan that you set on your desk, kitchen etc. Well, they make tons of scents so i ordered baby powder and put that cartridge in and when he came home, he's like "it smells like a baby in here". When he found me sitting in the living room i was reading a baby book and he got the hint. If you or someone you know thinks this is a great surprise, feel free to go to www.scentairhome.com (Mention K. Malone for a free baby gift!!!)

on 4/2/2008 cute ideas! I told my husband over the phone (my then fiance) because I couldn't wait another week when I would be able to tell him in person. It did come as a shock (a happy one, but still a shock) so I think it was good that way because he had time to process it and do a little freaking out by himself and then by the time we were together he was happy and excited.

on 7/6/2007 We live next to a small park and I was thinking of getting a classic child's book and filling in the blank for the name of the owner with Baby (our last name). I'll leave the book at the park on my way home and my husband and I can go on a walk before dinner and "accidentally" find the book. Then I can say, does it have a name in it? And wait for him to figure it out!

on 4/17/2007 When I found out I was pregnant I wan't to surprise my husband. We had been trying for a long time and everyone around us was getting pregnant. I wanted it to be special so I took a Baby dress that I wore when I was a Baby, and His Baby blanket that his mother made for him. I wraped it up. When he got home from work I gave it to him on one knee and asked him if he would be our childs father! He was so happy he cried!!

on 8/8/2006 My husband is a pilot and was out of town working when I called and told him I was pregnant. He flipped, so when I found out it was twins, I figured I better wait until he got home to tell him to avoid any sort of pilot malfunction! I bought 2 onesies, one of them I decorated, "I Love Daddy." I gave it to my husband and he thought I was cheesy, so I gave him the next gift bag that had a onesie in it that said, "Me, Too." He stood there in shock for a minute, walked around in a daze, then came back with tears in his eyes and hugged me. It was great!

on 8/8/2006 I always cook my husband dinner. So, when I found out I was pregnant, I cooked him the usual dinner, but before putting it on the plate, I wrote with a permanent marker on the bottom of the plate - "Soon to be Daddy!" I covered the plate with food, and when he got to the bottom of the plate, he saw it! Make sure he doesn't choke though!

on 8/8/2006 I only see my boyfriend on weekends, so when I found out I was pregnant, I went to the mall and had a maternity shirt with a stork on it embroidered to say "Congratulations, Daddy!" So, when he greets me at the gate with his Mom and brother, he'll know right away! He's going to be so surprised!

on 8/8/2006 We've been talking about painting our guest room when I realized I was late. So I bought I paint brush and wrapped it up with a poem.

There's painting, there's painting
There's painting to do.
Will it be pink?
Or will it be blue?

It took him a minute, but it was really fun. We both enjoyed it.

on 8/8/2006 Fill the daddy-to-be's drawer with newborn baby diapers. You can include a note that says "Make room daddy... I'm moving in!" That way the daddy-to-be can help plan the announcement for the grandparents-to-be (after he catches his breath)! This is how I am planning on telling my husband the great news! Plus, we just lost my grandmother this year, and she was very close to us. I am planning on sending a congratulations balloon up in the air to her on that special day.

on 7/18/2006 After I confirmed that I was pregnant, I went out immediately and got together a gift pack. I included:
"What to Expect When you're Expecting" book, the pregnancy test results from the doctor, "#1 DAD" hat, and put them in a fun gift bag. At dinner that night I presented him with his gift pack.

on 6/30/2006 A cousin of mine was pregnant with her second child. While her husband was away at work, she put a hot dog bun in the oven. When he got home, she told him to "check on dinner in the oven". He opened the oven, and said "Hun, there's only a bun in the oven." It took a moment to settle in, but he figured it out eventually!

on 6/30/2006 I heard of this but haven't tried myself. It's especially good for a first child. Go to a nice restaurant, just the two of you for a cozy dinner and sneak away and tell someone that you need your waiter or the person that seats you to bring over a high chair. When they bring it over to the table tell them to say, "We heard you'll be needing this." When your husband says, "No, we don't have any children" jump in and say, "Thank you, you can leave it, we will be needing that" (or whatever you want to say). Then you can tell him you'll be needing it in 9 months or so.
