Thank you for this precise and informative article! I grow herbs outdoors until fall; I then pick and freeze them all. I've killed untold amounts inside - I think this article will help me this winter. 5 stars!!

I am attempting to grow some from a Chia Herb Garden I got for Christmas. I don't usually do to well growing from seed. I do better growing from actually plants. I guess I didn't inherit my dad's green thumb.

I've tried planting herbs indoors before but I think that up North there's just not enough natural sunlight in the winter. I'll have to try using a light when I can figure out how to make a nice looking one that hangs just above the plants. Maybe I could use a hanging shop light, paint it using acrylics, and then cover the chains with a matching fabric tube or something.

I love doing this! I have a problem with my cat eating the plants. I am hesitant to even plant catnip because he gets so into it, he'll destroy the plant. How does one fix that?
