Thanks for your thoughtful article on appreciating Brittney Spears. I think the girl was taken advantage of in so many ways that the woman was never taught. When she became a mom, suddenly everyone expected her to be mature, responsible or present. Who taught her those skills? Her parents? They enjoyed the ride at their daughters expense. Someone needs to take Brittney and the boys in and teach her responsibility and respect. Someone should guide her into maturity with love and compassion. She is amazingly talented. Too talented to settle for trashy clothes and sleazy videos. 5*

I think Britney Spears got lucky. She met the right people who turned her into a star. The men gave her the music, the men gave her the lyrics- although I think she wrote one lyric herself. She grew up too fast in the music industry, and didn't get a chance to be a bad girl, and so she tried it-- just at the wrong time 'cause she had kids. Instead of embracing her life (the millions she has e.t.c.), she decided that she would think about all the negative things in her life, and she decided that she was a depressed individual (her manager could have told her to say that, and this could have led her to eventually believe it). She should get back on track, take parenting classes, give to charity more, stop drugs and drinking completely, and attend therapy because her father swears a lot an

I've made a lot of disparaging remarks about Britney over the years but you're article has finnaly shown me the light. And now I feel terrible. Unfathomable guilt. Thanks a million, Maggie

I never felt that she threw her life away. Depression can do uncontrollable things to us, we do things out of fear and anger. The media ripped her apart - if it was an ordinary person - people would have turned the other cheek.

I had to read this one out of curiousity. When she first came out I couldn't stand her. Then, I got to where I thought she was pretty cool. Then, she pretty much threw her life away. Hopefully now she can pull herself up and be a role model. Interesting article.
