on 11/22/2005 Drink plenty of green tea with sugar substitutes. This increases your metabolism and prevents cancer. Have a glass of low-fat milk in the evenings, and avoid carbohydrates (especially ones that come from bread, biscuits, and sweets). If you have a sweet tooth, chew sugar-free gum or drink diet sodas. If you are craving a particular thing really badly, eat it (before you binge later). Don't forget to exercise.

on 11/22/2005 While on a diet, I make sure that I stick to it for 6 days out of 7. I make every Saturday "treat day" - it gives me something to look forward to, and it gives me an opportunity to indulge in those cravings without derailing myself. It works especially well on diets like Weight Watchers. Instead of searching for those super-low calorie brownies to have after every meal, save up those cravings for Treat Day and have a huge, *real* brownie instead.

on 11/22/2005 Once you lose weight, it's a lifetime committment, if you gained weight in the first place, you know it' s something you cannot forget.

Fad Diets are just that a fad.

Best Advice: Eat foods low on the glycemic index, they keep your blood sugar even and do not cause cravings. Eat all you want of most veges except, corn, white potatoes, and most fruits except watermelon, mangos. Eat whole grain bread w/o white flour and sugar and additives from the healthfood store, you can also find them now in supermarkets. Eat portion sizes of beans, chicken and fish for lunch and dinner. Eat snacks in-between to keep your blood sugar level, such as fruit, or a few nuts, a cup of tea. Diet soda is no good, the (fake) sugar will cause your blood to fluctuate and make you hungry as will coffee because of the caffein. Drink tea, the caffein in tea will not do the same as coffee, and ofcouse, drink H20.

Try to exercise 45 minutes a week in a spin class or a class setting, it is easier to stick to if you dont' like exercise, and do some light weight training once or twice a week. Always take the steps.

Don't stop--Read about the glycemic index, it's not a fad, it's the backbone of how we should eat. Complex Carbs will not make your fat, they burn slowly and fill you up, keep away from simple carbs and all sugar.

Good Luck and Don't stop!!

on 11/22/2005 I lost 30 pounds just by finding time to cycle and planning my menus ahead of time. Try to cut out all sweets, because between the carbs and protein, you'll get enough food energy! Just think about what you need to eat, and balance it out with exercise.

on 11/22/2005 Small frequent meals (SFMs) tend to stabilize both blood sugar and insulin levels throughout the day. When blood sugar levels spike, fat storage is strongly promoted, because blood sugar must be kept under very tight control by the body. If glycogen reserves are full, blood sugar must be stored as fat. These spikes will also cause an overproduction of insulin, usually leading to a rebound hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) effect a few hours after your meal. This can instigate hunger and cravings, cause your energy levels to crash, and slow your metabolism. In contrast, keeping your blood sugar levels moderate and consistent smoothes out energy levels, keeps insulin levels more constant, and helps keep your metabolism humming. When you eat six nutritious, smaller meals a day, the food is more efficiently absorbed and processed by your body than the "three squares" most Americans eat each day. You?ll be creating a metabolic environment that supports healthy fat loss and muscle gains.

on 11/22/2005 Do not snack on junk food while watching TV. Chances are, you're really into the show and you are not paying attention to how much food you are eating. Before you know it, you've eaten the whole bag of Oreos! If you want to snack in front of the TV, just take a little baggie of whatever you're eating with you (to ensure that you wont overeat).

on 11/22/2005 One of the very best breakfasts you can have is watermelon. It is very low in calories and fats, and it is very tasty! One watermelon can provide breakfast for over a week. It's a win-win situation.

on 11/22/2005 Eat good healthy meals until 2 or 3 PM. Do not eat or drink anything besides water after this time. This slims you down pretty fast, if you are motivated enough to stick with the regime.

on 11/22/2005 I lost about 50 pounds by eating less and exercising. Instead of eating 3 meals and snacks in between meals, eliminate the snacks. When having meals, try to have some fruits and vegetables, and get your protein. If you do not eat meat, find alternatives (like protein shakes, bars, or soy products). As for the exercise, start with about 10 sit-ups (that's what I started with since my major problem was my stomach). Find exercises that work on the areas where you would like to lose your weight. Eventually, increase your amount of sit-ups (or the exercise you have chosen), but only when you feel ready. You can also add many other exercises, but don't do too much. Increase your routine gradually. You can get hurt if your body is not used to the amount of exercise it is getting. It is also always great to walk as much as possible and drink lots of water. I hope I have helped someone :)

on 11/22/2005 Try to eat healthy at meals and not have snacks. If you do snack, have fruits and/or vegetables. When I get those sudden urges for snacks, I totally fill up on water. I've only been doing this a few days, but I have noticed I've been eating a lot less junk.

on 11/22/2005 Watch the documentary "Super Size Me." It really gives you a good perspective on the effects of unhealthy eating habits, and it has really helped to motivate me to eat much healthier.

on 11/22/2005 First off, substitute water for soda! Do you realize that one can of soda contains about 18 teaspoons of sugar? Can you imagine putting 18 teaspoons of sugar in a glass of water? That would be crazy. For breakfast, try 1-2 pieces of dry toast with one egg, as a sandwich. You'll find it amazingly filling. For lunch, try soup. If you find that it isn't filling enough, don't feel guilty about dipping a piece of bread in it! Some people advise using a smaller plate, but you may want to try a bowl instead. A bowl is just a curled up plate, but it limits the stacking of food. I don't know much about exercise, but this eating strategy works!

on 11/22/2005 I have found that swimming laps on at least 5 days a week increases my metabolism and helps me lose weight. Before doing these laps, I make sure that I have done 15-20 minutes on a treadmill in order to ensure proper warmup and digestion of any foods. If you can find a hot tub, this is a good relaxer after the swim. You will feel 100% better and you will never worry about whether you are losing weight or not.

on 11/22/2005 Think of the guy or girl you like when you diet. If you succeed, you will love your body, and they might notice you, too. After you succeed, you may have a new love interest. I tested it, and it worked for me.
