Return to article: How to Lose Weight
on 11/22/2005 Instead of going to McDonald's every other day, try going every other week or once a month. Did you know one Big Mac is equal to 6 banana splits. That's a lot of carbohydrates!
on 11/22/2005 When you overeat, it's probably because your over stressed. Think about all the neat things you can do (except being thin). Have a talk with trusted friends and family, if necessary. When you feel better about yourself, you won't turn to food when you're stressed or sad!
on 11/22/2005 Every time you feel the need to eat something, even if you have just finished your meal, take a moment to think, "Am I really hungry right now?" Think of food as a natural need and not an emotional balance factor!
on 11/22/2005 When doing cardio exercises, push yourself to the maximum. 20 minutes of this is more effective than 45 minutes without resistance. The same idea is applied to weights; work out until you feel you did you best. Eat 6-7 small, low calorie, low fat meals. And lastly, drink 9-10 glasses of water a day. This will get you results better than anything!
on 11/22/2005 Don't sleep with your air conditioner on. Take a cold shower! It feels great and it will help you go to bed without turning the air conditioner on. Your body will burn more calories trying to get warm.
on 11/22/2005 Like most of you reading this tip, I've been yo-yo dieting most of my life. I've also tried most of those diet pills that are out on the market, and the Atkins diet. One thing that I have learned in my life is that I've lost weight only through exercise and eating right. What I do when I wake up in the morning is have some coffee and adjust. Afterward, I get suited up to go exercise. I exercise on the Stairmaster for about 30 minutes, while listening to some upbeat music that gets me going. I set the Stairmaster setting at a comfortable pace, one that keeps me dripping sweat. The Stairmaster isn't set so high that I have to get off right in the middle because I am overly exhausted. Some days I also lift weights for my upper body. That's all you have to do folks - exercise. You can also walk, jog, run, anything that gets you sweaty. Pick the exercise that you want to do, and do it for 30 minutes each day. If you are not that sweaty from your exercise, either you are not working hard enough, or the exercise that you chose isn't good enough for an aerobic workout. By exercising, specifically aerobic workouts, your metabolism is revved up for the entire day and you burn calories dramatically. Keep doing this exercise every day consistently (the keyword), you will lose some inches folks. Exercise every day and everything else will fall into place. If you exercise every day, you suddenly won't want to eat the things that make you fat. Exercise does wonders to your mind (your mind and thinking about food begins to change). Exercise causes your appetite to be suppressed greatly. Exercise everyday folks, you will win the battle against fat. Exercise also helps your mind mentally and helps relieve stress, tension, anxiety, and depression. Plus, by exercising, you will live a longer and happier life. Exercise releases the feel-good chemicals in your brain. These chemicals are called endorphins. Endorphins help your mind overcome depression, anxiety, and helps you become happier as a person.
on 12/27/2007 I had been trying to lose weight forever, but nothing was working. One day, somebody told me that in order to lose weight successfully you must drink very hot liquids after each meal. For example, drink a good-sized cup of hot tea after each meal. The hot liquid literally melts the fat that is stuck to the sides of your esophagus and stomach walls. The hot liquid melts the fat and sends it straight through your digestive system and out of your body, before it is able to turn itself into actual fatty cells. You can eat what you want!!
on 11/22/2005 Eat fat free foods Monday through Friday. On the weekend you can eat what you like. Exercise 3 times a week. Or, you can eat fat free every day with no exercise and lose quickly.
on 11/22/2005 I get started by climbing stairs for 10 minutes a day. Climbing stairs is verified to be the most calorie burning exercise of all. Be sure to massage your calves and thighs to avoid building up your muscles. When this routine has become a habit, find another routine. You'll find yourself slimmer naturally.
on 11/22/2005 Not everyone can do a low carb diet (it works for some people). If you absolutely love carbs, it may be hard to stick to a low carb diet. You will be more likely to stick with your diet if you eat the foods you enjoy. Just don't overdo them. Try the 90-10 rule: Eat healthy 90% of the time, and save 10% of your calories for the special treats. Don't put any food "off limits." This will only make you want it 10 times more (and you will be more likely to overeat). Exercise is important for so many reasons. Always get out and move, even if it is just walking the dog or taking the stairs. When you do lose weight, treat yourself to a treat. For example, a new CD, a bubble bath, or a massage.
on 11/22/2005 Rather than changing all of your bad habits at once, try changing one bad habit at a time. I find that I don't feel so deprived this way, and I am able to stick to the change.
on 11/22/2005 Drink a lot of water. I do mean a lot! You may visit the bathroom more frequently, but it works to flush out your system.
on 11/22/2005 Your liver processes fat and your colon absorbs the fat. I mix some juice with psyllium seed every day to clean my colon. I also take a liver cleansing tablet. This helps. Besides, you would not believe how much comes out, making a slimmer belly.
on 11/22/2005 Every time you go to eat something that is high in sugar, tell yourself that you can eat it if you really want to. I find that it helps, because I know that I can have it anytime. It can stop binges.
on 11/22/2005 The first thing I do is wake up, have some coffee, and relax a little. After I've adjusted, I go exercise on the Stairmaster or stair stepper for 25 to 30 minutes at a brisk pace. The only real way to lose weight is to do cardio workouts. Try not to think of exercise as a burden. Think of exercise as a way to release stress and a way to increase your energy. When you are tired, remind yourself to go exercise. It will increase your energy levels and suppress your appetite. Think of exercise as a way to get rid of your anxieties and depression. Exercise has a lot of psychological benefits. Exercise helps increase oxygen flow to the body and to the brain. Think of exercise as a way to help you get motivated. When you do cardio workouts, your mind starts changing and you become more motivated about things that need to get done. Try exercising 25 to 30 minutes each day and the rest will fall into place. In other words, once you start exercising, you won't want to eat the things that make you fat. Exercise every day, and eventually you'll notice that you will want to eat healthier and you won't want to pig out on fast food. No matter what, just remember to exercise each day and to be patient. You will notice a difference. Even if you don't lose any weight right away, the psychological benefits of exercise are worth it. I have anxieties, stress, and depression (just like everybody else), but instead of getting put on Prozac and feeling sorry for myself, I go exercise. Think of exercise as a life-long commitment. Remember, do cardio workouts. For example, do brisk walking, jogging, running, stair stepping, rope skipping, swimming, or anything that gets your heart pounding and your body sweaty. Also, I have a problem with binge eating at night and getting fast food late at night. So, instead of overeating and getting fast food, I get a little bowl of Skippy extra-crunchy peanut butter. Peanut butter is very delicious and it satisfies your late-night cravings. It isn't nearly as fattening as you might think, compared to what you could be eating.
