I'm a 17 year old male, and I am studying for a degree in adolescent psychology. I have never been "punished" due to the fact I have never done anything seriously wrong. However, due to the "mindset" of most teens, absolutely none of these things would work. For instance, it is impossible to restrict use of the vehicle, short of physically fighting with the teen, and stealing the keys. (which I would not advise due to the fact that the teen is in their prime and most likely would not think twice of defending themselves.) As far as Assigning chores, that would most likely be met with "yeah...f--k that". As far as the cell phone restriction. Virgin mobile sells phones for $5.00 and 1000 text messages for $10.00. Most teens care very little of their parents personal appearance. You would simply be making yourself look a fool. Again, with removing the television/gaming system/computer. T...

Great tips for keeping that unruly teen in line, especially going out in public with pjs on. I wear mismatched socks, clothes, and a baseball cap for the same effect. THANK YOU.

Suzanne, I always tell my kids, that I am going to kiss them at the store the next time we go or when we are at the store and they are acting up, I tell them the same things so I am right there with you.
