Return to article: How to Eat a Healthy Breakfast on the Go
on 11/1/2007 You can make french toast the night before or even make up a bunch and freeze them. When you are ready to eat them, just pop them in the toaster. Then, for a little protein you can quickly scramble up an egg or just put some PB on it. You can make a delicious smoothie for breakfast as well. The night before cut up several cups of fruit. Bananas, strawberries, blueberries. Whatever. Make sure some of them are sweet. They will be your sweetener. In your blender put milk, fruit, and some ice and blend it up. It tastes GREAT!! If you really need some sweetener, that's good for you do not use artificial sweeteners, they are really bad for you. Instead use, Stevia. You can find it in just about any grocery store in powder or liquid form. Its really good for you and less is more! Enjoy!
on 11/1/2007 They have found that energy drinks aren't really that good for you. Try to stay away from all these HIGHLY caffienated drinks. Instead try using ginko biloba and ginseng. These taken each morning will help with you to be awake and alert naturally! Also, try not to skip breakfast. There are tons of things you can do that do not require any prep and are still healthy. Fruit is always a good thing. Also lowfat yogurt, you can put a little granola in it as well to make it really tasty! Toast is also really easy and fast and is very good with these other things I mentioned. If you are trying to lose weight and skip meals to do so, your body will go into "survival mode." It starts to hang on to whatever fat storage it might have to help you "stay alive" instead of losing weight you might even gain weight! If you find you just don't have time, take something quick, or prep the night before.
on 11/1/2007 You can also bake some potatoes. Store them in the fridge the night before. The morning of, cube the potatoes and put in a frying pan with a little margarine or cooking spray. Once browned add eggs. Scramble the eggs with the potatoes. Add seasonings. i.e. salt, pepper, onion powder or seasoning salt. You can even cut up veggies the night before and add. They are better for you if you do not cook them. Once this is done, wrap in a warm tortilla. I've found if you use the gordita-sized tortillas once wrapped can fit two into a sandwich bag. These can be taken to work, and just popped in the microwave. Or made the night before. VERY GOOD! You can also add your fav. breakfast meat to the pan when cooking. My husband likes to put fry sauce on his. (ketchup and mayo) ENJOY!
on 11/1/2007 I oftentimes make waffles. break them into the four squares, put 2 in a storage bag, then freeze them. Prep is easy. Just pop them in the toaster, then you can spread PB on them. You can do the same thing with pancakes. Just make them small enough to fit in a storage bag. Then, that morning, I'll pop them in the toaster or microwave. Cook up a couple scrambled eggs. When the pancake is warm, I'll cut it into bite sized pieces then mix with the eggs in the pan and add a little margarine. Then, after its mixed I'll put it into a storage container and pour syrup over the top. When your ready to eat, just pop it into the microwave. :) Its very good! You can even add bite sized pieces of sausage to the mix.. You can also purchase a snackster of some sort and make pockets with a buttered piece of bread and put scrambled eggs, cheese, & sausage. Close and once done you can freeze these. mmm!!
on 1/23/2007 I keep a canister of oatmeal at my cubicle with a box of splenda for emergencies. Oatmeal is great for your cholesterol levels, plus it tends to keep you feeling full right up until lunch. Join me in praising my canister of oatmeal.
on 8/29/2006 Energy drinks and vitamin pills provide you with some stuff, but not all of it, just grab an apple and some toast and your sweet!
on 6/30/2006 Don't try to replace milk or juice with so-called energy drinks with names like Thrust. Many of these have high levels of caffeine and sugar. These high levels are unhealthy and possibly dangerous for your heart. Not to mention high levels of citric acid (think ulcer)!
on 1/16/2006 If you hate eating breakfast, or just never have to time, buy an energy drink and pop a vitamin pill. It's fast, easy, and healthy.
on 11/22/2005 If you must eat while driving, stay aware and be prepared for sudden maneuvering.
on 7/5/2007 I have never been a huge fan of breakfast mostly because I don't like common breakfast foods such as eggs, bagels, cereal, or donuts. However, I do like fruit. So what I do is when I go shopping, I buy the small cans of packaged fruit. Whether its peaches, fruit cocktail, or whatever, there is always something for me to eat in the morning. As a bonus, they are very portable! All you need is a fork or spoon after you pop the lid off the can.
on 11/22/2005 Grab a protein bar (I like Luna Bars). They're quick and easy, plus the protein will keep you going until lunch. Add milk and a piece of fruit to complete the meal.
on 11/22/2005 On the weekend, cut up fresh fruit in a container and add a canned fruit of your choice. (The syrup helps preserve the fruit!) Even better pack them in small containers so you can take your fruitcup with you.
on 11/22/2005 Eggs are really filling. You can make a fried egg with English muffin sandwich the night before, and it's actually pretty good cold. Or nuke it before you leave.
on 11/22/2005 If you don't have enough time in the morning to make a heathy, filling breakfast, take some time the night before to make a meal. Then you can just take your breakfast leftovers out of the fridge and reheat. I often do this with pancakes.
on 11/22/2005 If you are more of a dinner person, why not eat a burger or steak for breakfast. Try things like milkshakes, muffins, smoothies, anything that has nutrional value and you enjoy eating!
