on 10/14/2008 Yes, I have used applesauce in place of oil. It works great, I've used that substitution in bread recipes (I think it works even better than oil in bread recipes to be honest). I have been planning to write some more substitution articles, I had too many for one article.

on 10/14/2008 I've also heard of substituting applesauce for oil - you get the moisture without all the fat. I've never personally tried it, but my sister - the black Martha Stewart - did some baking, and only told us all after we'd raved about the goodies about the substitutions she'd made.
