on 10/8/2008 The body rapidly detoxes itself. All your herbs here are known to be usless and just taste bad. I'm not a herb hater. Herbal Tea is good for a sore throat. Yohimbe root is very good for male sex. (ha ha) I said male sex.

on 10/8/2008 MikoDel, I've been bitten by that plant as well - and it does feel like a bite or bee sting or something... but the stingers die off when the plant is dried or cooked. I would never, ever eat it raw that's for sure! Stinging Nettle is a traditional plant in European folk medicine, particularly in Germany.

on 10/7/2008 I can't help but be leery of drinking the dried leaves of stinging nettle. We had the "giant stinging nettle" in our backyard where we used to live. This is a horrific plant that will totally nail you, and then you'll pay for the next hour or so. What keeps the stinging hairs of this dried leaf from going down your throat and giving you the soreness from hell?

on 10/7/2008 That's a good idea nicolasrao - one could make the tea, refrigerate it, stir the chloryphyl (or powdered greens, etc) in it, maybe add some fresh squeezed grape juice or something to sweeten it ... and drink!

Even if this blend isn't used as a "Detox" it is definitely something healthy one can add to their life.

on 10/7/2008 you can try freeze dried or liquid Chlorophyll from Wheat grass or alfalfa as a very good detox. Try taking a glass first thing in the morning before Coffee/tea, at least one half hour before and another half an hour before dinner. If you are working, take a glass at about 3.30PM for an energy boost as well.

on 10/6/2008 fuzzybumblebee - thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support. Very well said and I agree 100% with what you said. It's easy to forget that prescription meds have side effects lists that are the stuff of SNL spoofs. So why do we take it? Because the doc said? I have no problem with taking anything herbal or otherwise as long as I am educated about all my treatment options and any potential side effects and risks attached to the treatment options.

on 10/6/2008 I am an advocate of herbal medicine AND going to the doctor. Those naysayers who are afraid of what side-effects herbs might have....um, have you read the side-effects those prescription meds have? they are way worse than what an herb might do....you're stomach will practically ooze out with those pills!!!! I don't understand how someone would be willing to risk those 30 side-effects from pills and turn their nose up at 1 or 2 side-effects of herbs. Someone argued with me one time about how people have died from taking herbs...yeah, well people have died from taking prescription meds as well....so they don't even have all the information....so EDUCATE YOURSELF (I saw a comment from a naysayer about that, practice what you preach). The stats are nowhere near that of prescription medicine, they stemmed usually from allergic reactions....well heck! people are allergic to penicillin too

on 10/6/2008 The German Commission E is the official manual that health professionals in Germany use to determine which herbal remedies will work and which won't.

@VickyWard - a fast can be disruptive to your life, that's for sure! That's one of the reasons why I choose a gentler approach.

on 10/6/2008 mlady22 - I like the taste of this blend - it isn't bitter. I added the spearmint to add to the taste. If you try it and don't like the taste, try drinking a cup or so of each of the herbs separately so you can figure out which herb isn't agreeing with you. Or you can sweeten it with a little honey or stevia.

Thanks dutchessctyny for the description! I had forgotten that some of the medications come in containers like that.

b4bluebirds - you're entitled to your opinion. Thanks for your comment, though. A lot of people find this to be helpful for them but I always encourage people to do what is right for your body. If supporting the health of your body with herbs is hogwash to you, obviously you shouldn't do it! I do encourage people to have an open mind though and to learn about the things they scoff at. You can do additional research by reading things like the German Commission E

on 10/4/2008 Re: questions on why the amber glass jar, which kohuether already said is to keep light out. It's the same reason your druggist puts your prescription medications in an amber plastic container, or your supplements come in opaque white or amber glass or plastic containers. Nothing new about it.
