on 10/31/2008 Use an apple that you have bruised. Apples produce more ethylene than bananas and bananas give of other chemicals that can cause an "off flavor" when kept in a paper bag with other climacteric fruit (fruit that needs to ripen more after picking ie: avocados, mango, kiwi fruit, papaya, and pears. Pears DO NOT ripen on the tree!! Avocados do NOT ripen on the tree.

on 10/31/2008 You must check the neck of the fruit NOT the bottom....go to usapears.org and see what they say.

on 9/8/2008 I'll have to try this, we just picked fresh pears yesterday off the neighbors trees. They are still very green.

on 7/31/2008 I'd almost given up on pears. I hate it when they are hard and grainy. Maybe this will fix that.

on 7/26/2008 This works really well! Also, it helps to remember to put the bananas separate from all other fruits unless you want them to get more ripe. Tomatoes are very susceptible to this, especially. Thank you! 5 stars.
