on 8/16/2008 Excellent information! My mother had the majority of her thyroid removed when she was in her early thirties. She had Graves disease. One of the symptoms of it is enlarged eyes. Her nickname was Bugeyes at the time because her eyes were already big but then they began to protude (bug out). After the surgery, they returned to normal.
