    Safety standards are constantly changing and improving. So even if a helmet meets ASTM and SEI standards, it becomes "obsolete." It is recommended to replace a helmet every 4-5 years even if it has not been in a fall.

    Many hunter riders must ride with their hair in their helmets in the show ring. If this is the case, you should fit the helmet so that it fits properly/passes the tests with the hair in it. Then, when wearing that helmet, the rider should always have their hair up to ensure the fit stays the same.
