on 3/7/2009 Jeliot... don't be such a snob. they're having fun so get over yourself. I'm sure you're a pro and admired by everyone... but save it for you're dance competitions.

on 12/27/2008 New York Lindy is an exceptionally sophisticated, classy step when done correctly. There's no faking it. It is also very well suited to a very crowded dance floor. Instructions given on this webpage are clear & concise, and easier to follow than some videos I have paid money for. Work out the step slowly without music til it is second nature. Then when you set the music to it, it will come together.
"....My partner and I just make up the moves as we go. Just do a lot of turning under arms and twirling and kicking. Make up a pattern. People think we know what we are doing, and it looks awesome." This quote sounds like funky country huckleberry to me, and should be posted in "country" swing.

on 12/9/2008 I have a feeling whoever posted the comment two above has a much different opinion of their dancing than those at the club who actually know what they're doing.

on 11/27/2007 It's easier to watch a video on http://www.youtube.com or subscribe to videos by professional teachers on http://www.unlimitedswing.com.

on 11/22/2005 BEWARE learning lindy from a ballroom instructor. Instead look for local university groups or instructors specializing in lindy. Better yet, go to a lindy camp, and have the vacation of a lifetime! Post questions or review events at www.lindyexchange.com.

on 11/22/2005 All these terms and counting seem confusing to me. My partner and I just make up the moves as we go. Just do a lot of turning under arms and twirling and kicking. Make up a pattern. People think we know what we are doing, and it looks awesome.

on 11/22/2005 It helps to know the steps: twist right, slight left, triple step while turnng with your left shoulder forward; step left, right, triple step to face partner. While doing this, connect on 3 and release on 5 from your partner. Counts are: 1 2 3&4 5 6 7&8.

on 11/22/2005 When doing any form of swing dancing, it is always easier when hunched over with your rump sticking out a bit. This makes it easier for your partner to lead and easier for you to follow. It seems silly, but it is more professional-looking.

on 11/22/2005 The advice I have is don't count while you are doing the Lindy. When I first learned to Lindy Hop, I counted constantly. This really put a hold on learning any new leads. As most of you probably know, not everything added in the Lindy is 8 counts.
