I was having major problems with my son's binky addiction! My friend absolutely raved about the cut method, and all of the psychology behind it. She emailed me a link to a site that has a free publication ( www.bye-bye-binky.com -supported by advertisements) on dropping the binky, so I tried it. Very cool stuff, worked beautifully for my son. Four days later he did not want anything to do with his binky. Highly recommended! I am also interested in others experiences with this method.... Bella

I also have a 11 month milk monster, who will be 12 months in a few weeks. She does not take a pacifier, and has to have a bottle or two in the middle of the night. If she sleeps longer than 30 mins in the middles of the day, my nights are restless. I now suffer from two stomach diseases from this lack of sleep. I am crying out for help!

My son will be 12 months in a a couple of weeks. I really want to ween him off the bottle before he gets too old. I have no idea how to go about doing it. He goes down with one at nap time and at bed time and again if he wakes up in the middle of the night. Where do i start? Please help.

I took my daughter off the bottle right before she was 16 months and she REFUSED to drink milk out of the sippy cup (water and juice ok) but no way on the milk. She went an entire week without drinkink milk. I finally gave into her but the pediatrician said to just cut it out cold turkey and she will eventually come around and if not just to give her yougart, cheese, tofu etc. We are taking her off again tomorrow..Im in for a long ride she is one stubborn cookie!

GIJOJO,
you have to ignore the cries. i know it's hard. i have a ten month old who slept through the night, then suddenly stopped. he woke up every couple hours. we put him down with a bottle of water now, then we walk out. we stay out of his room until the morning, and the sleep we get is awesome. he will only cry for a few nights, then he will get it. break the habit..... good luck!!

My son is 15 months and he still wakes up about 3 times a night for a bottle. During the day he will drink from a sippy cup but at night he needs a bottle to fall asleep. I am so tired because he wakes up so much. What should I do?

Sensible suggestions. I think it is easier to wean them from pacis, bottles, etc around the first birthday. I find a bigger struglle takes place the older they get! Mine weaned smoothly at 11 months.

Try a LilyBug. It's a cute little animal thing that you slip over the cup and the ears become handles. They are really soft too, my daughter loves it!

My daughter was 18 months old and she refused to leave the bottle. One day I just decided to take it away. I threw all her bottles away. It was not that bad, since there was not any bottles around, she just had to except the fact. It only took two days and she got over it.

My 1 year old would just not use a cup at all. I was trying to stop the formula milk altogether, so I tried her with cow's milk and she would just throw the cup on the floor. I left the cup for a few days and then decided it might be a good idea to warm up the milk just a little, now it's great not having to count all the scoops.

I tried to wean my 9 month old from the bottle using a cup, but she would make a mess and most of the milk ended up on the floor, it just wasn't successful. Then I tried Watties Baby Basics no-spill cups, and I was able to throw out her bottles! The best thing about them is that when she is ready, they can be converted to normal drinking cups by taking out the little plastic valve. The spout is soft and easier for baby to drink from and they are cheap, too.

My 15 month old will only drink juice from a cup and milk from a bottle. He uses silicone nipples, so I replaced them with rubber nipples and different shapes. He will gladly take the cup now.

To wean my daughter from the pacifier, I simply poked a few holes in the pacifier with a needle. She didn't like the 'no-suction' feeling and she stopped instantly.

We weaned our daughter from the pacifier with a great idea and only one day! We simply bought NEW pacifiers - they tasted like rubber and were a little bigger than her "old favorite." We threw out the old (in the dumpster) - she threw out the new!
