on 11/22/2005 The scabies mite that infects dogs isn't the same one that infects people so you can't get scabies from the dog. Occasionally people can have an allergic reaction to dog mites.
on 11/22/2005 Scabies spread easily. Apply lotion all over body (don't use lotion with lindane in it). You should try to get a prescription from your doctor first. Treat everyone you have had contact with. Wash all clothes, blankets, pillows, and so forth. Dogs can also carry scabies, so check your pets. Even when you have been treated, the itching may continue for a couple of weeks. This is perfectly normal.
on 11/22/2005 The dog can have the scabies. It is called the mange on the dog.
