I actually found this non-expensive flea trap - works really well - and doesn't have any chemicals or anything. Cleared every room I put it in. I don't have the link, but its called - myfleatrap. Has been tested by universities and stuff. Should try it out.

vinegar in hot water, use it in your carpet cleaner and it will kill em all. you can mist your sofa, chairs etc before cleaning them. be sure to spray your clothing before you start as they will jump on you to try and get away from the vinegar and hot water. another trick that works well is to place a bowl of soapy water on the floor in a room and place a bright light over the bowl to illuminate it.. fleas moisture and the bright light attracts them.

Vinegar! Completely non-toxic and I'm amazed at how well this worked. I mixed 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 water in a spray bottle and lightly misted just about everything in the house. The flea population declined by 75% the first day! And the smell of vinegar disappeared within hours. Because it's so easy I am doing it on a daily basis now until the flea season is over. The mist is so light that it doesn't stain anything -- something like a room freshener. My cat has finally re-entered the house -- she was so spooked by all the fleas she was living outdoors. At the same time, I have re-frontlined the animals (I've found that's the only thing that works.) I had tried twenty mule team borax (boric acid) on the carpets -- kind of a bother and in order to leave it on long enough I had to leave the house with the animals -- not always possible. I would vaccum it up and wash the floors...

Brewer's yeast from your local health shop is a fantastic way to make your pet less attractive to fleas. The more riddled they are with fleas, the more your pets will enjoy eating it as their bodies crave a totally natural flea defense.

The fleas can also be killed by lightly dipping a tip of a q-tip into rubbing alcohol. Then dab the fleas on your cat with the tip with the alcohol and they'll die almost immediately. You don't need much alcohol, nor do you need to push hard. Also, frequent vacuuming will remove the fleas on your carpet and in furniture. Spraying your yard with a cheap dishwashing liquid will work. Put 1 cup of the soap into a hose end sprayer and spray away.

well, i figured out how to kill the fleas on the dog,, a weekly bath using dawn dishwashing liquid kills the fleas and drives the ones that escape contact running for the pets facial area: eyes , ears and nose. it works so well that they have a tendancy to fall off dead when the pet shakes themselves dry, but many get rooted and cling to the roots of hair folicals just before they pass on. this last obsticle can be hurdled by the use of a metal pet comb. now i have to utilize the info. i got to conquest my own yard and house. NOTE: dishwashing liquid like dawn will cause dry skin if used more frequently than necessary. (QUESTION: where can we look for these chemicals that are mentioned in this artical and how much do they usually run? love to get a responseon that!)
