alright that didnt really tell you anything. a proper kick begins with your step. the norm is 3 back 2 to side, but do whatever feels comfortable. always keep your eyes on the ball. once you reach your final stance put your arms out loosly and get comfortable. when your ready nod to the holder who will then yell "ready!", letting the LS know to snap the ball. when the balls set (to hit the power spot on the ball, tell holder before hand to lean the ball slightly at an angle to its side) run into the ball planting your place football even with the back of the block or ball about a foot to the right/left. cock your leg back and keep your other arm out to the side for balance. come in on the ball with a strait foot and hit the ball 1/3 of the way up with the side of your foot. keep the leg strait and follow through as high as you can go in the direction you want the ball to go. im allstate

Hold the ball at a diagonal angle with laces up, hold at waist level, swing your leg with force while keeping your toe down (so it is flat) and follow through with the kick.

Consistency, as most kickers collegiate and professional would agree, is key to great punts and/or field goals. The best thing to do is find a form that is you. This doesn't mean punt a football like you would a soccer ball, it means be comfortable. You don't have to look exactly like an NFL kicker to be good. And example is watch Matt Stover (Baltimore Ravens) and Gary Anderson (Ex-Titan). They don't look exactly the same, but both are great. Be your own person when it come to kicking. Form and consistency will turn you into a great kicker.

When you drop the ball to be kicked try to keep your foot as flat as you can (laces). Kick with as much force as you can and follow as far as is flexible for you.

To get a perfect spiral, or something near a spiral, is (if you are lefty) put your right foot about six inches in front of your left foot. Then keep your feet about shoulder length apart. When you get the football (again. if you're a lefty) hold the football at one o'clock then as you take your first step with your right foot, drop the ball as if you are holding, so when you kick it you get a spiral.

Catch the ball with 2 hands, and spin it so the laces are to the right. Tilt the ball to the left just a little. Take a short choppy jab step, then a good stride and drop it, dont throw it up. Make contact with your LACES, not toe. Keep your ankle locked!!! Try to make yourself come of the ground with your kick, and follow through.

Note: this is for right footed kickers. Have the holder sit to the left of the ball holding it in place. Take 3 big steps back and 2 an a half steps to the left. Have your plant foot (non kicking foot) about a foots length in front of your kicking foot. Take a small step with your left foot, a regular step with your kicking foot, and a big step landing on your plant foot about a foot to the left of the ball. Keep looking at the ball.Power through the ball. keeping your eye on the ball till your kicking foot is as high as it can go.

Just before you make contact with a punt, point the toes of your kicking foot as straight as you can, forming a straight line with your shin. This should add extra altitude and a good spiral to your punts.

If you want further distance, lean to the side of your kicking foot and punt towards your opposite foot. You will have better accuracy and further distance.

It all starts with the drop. Extend your arm fully (lock out your elbow) when you drop the ball. Try to push the ball down rather than letting gravity do it's thing. Practice pushing the ball down "flat" so it hits the ground and bounces straight back up. The kick will be more consistent with a good drop. Keep your toe pointed! 2 steps should be all you need, anymore and you get hit. You want to snap the lower half of your leg up. Make contact with the ball when your leg is almost parallel with the ground (mid thigh for most). After you drop the ball it's almost a jump with your planted foot, then follow through. Remember to keep your toe pointed.

Hold the ball laces up and parallel to the ground. Tilt the ball slightly to the left (if you are a righty). Drop the ball flat and kick with the top of your foot when it gets about thigh high. Doing this will make the ball spiral and go further.

When kicking off the tee or with someone placing the ball for you, do not, I repeat DO NOT concentrate on how your ankle is bent when you kick. Concentrate on where your plant foot is and when you actually make contact with the ball, focus all your energy into your leg. If you do this, your foot will just flow naturally through the ball and you will get good distance.

To kick the ball high and far, point the laces to the sky and hold the ball at the tip. Have the ball pointing straight in front of you, and have the whole top of your foot hit the ball. Remember, kick the ball with all your leg power and the ball will fly.

If you are holding the football and your kicker kicks soccer style (with the side of his foot), lean the ball back and towards you for good height and hook to the kick.

To punt a spiral you have to drop the ball about waist high and tilt the football a little bit to the right (if you are a lefty and a little the the left if you are a righty). Also, make sure the tip of the ball is tilted down a little and punt it toward the right part of your foot. Then kick it and make sure you keep your toes as flat as possible, and your leg as straight as possible. When you finish, try to bring your leg up as high as you can and use enough power so that you lift yourself off the ground a little.
