listen either you can catch the football or you cant..... catching the football and recieving are natural talents either you have soft hands or you have brick hands its simple. Always look the ball in and always use your hands to catch the ball never your body. That is all you need to know to become a reciever the rest is natural talent. -

You want to catch the ball away from your shoulder pads. That way the ball doesn't bounce off and the defense doesn't run off with a careless interception. -

Make sure as you catch the ball, that you are running up on your toes. If you hit on your heels, it will jar your eyes and arms. -

When catching a football, do not use your palms because your palms are like brick walls. Once the ball hits your palms you will drop it, so try and catch the ball with your fingers. -

Catch the ball with your hands, because if you catch it with your body it could bounce off your shoulder pads. Remember to relax, a lot of passes are dropped because of nervousness. -

Let the football come to you, don't force it. Make a diamond with you hand, make the ball hit the diamond and wrap you fingers around it. Turn toward the end zone and run without hesitation. -

1) When you are in a situation, or just playing in a game, do not let anyone get into your head. Play based on instincts. 2) Some people like to catch with the palms of their hands, which increases the risk of dropping the ball because your palms are hard compared to your fingertips. And most inexperienced kids or adults (maybe) might catch partly with their arms also. 3) Jumping when jumping is not needed is a risk of getting drilled and/or not being able to control your movement to get to the ball. That's basic, but someone gives you the slightest shove and you could be on your back. 4) No matter how easy of a catch it seems to be, never go for it with one hand. -

Don't worry about any defenders around you, just focus on catching the ball by saying in your mind "I'm going to catch this football " (say it over and over again in your mind as the football approaches you), or you can visualize that the football is a pot of gold. Remember, don't flinch while the ball approaches you, this may cause you to drop the pass. -

Part of catching a pass is having soft hands. When you get a chance put lotion on your hands to make them soft. -

There are many ways to get open, but I think this is the best one. While running your route, quickly stop and turn around (as if looking for a pass to be throw to you). Then quickly start up running, and if done fast enough; you should be about 3-4 feet away from your defender. Be sure to tell your quarterback you are doing this. Note:Do not be disappointed if this don't work, this move takes practice. -

When you go to make a catch, cradle the ball. What this means is:(on a pass to your right) Put your left hand parallel to the ground and keep your thumb out of the way of the ball while keeping fingers spread. Take your right hand and put it off the end of your left hand, with your pinky above the fingers on your left hand, also while keeping fingers spread. Try to have the nose of the football hit your right hand first and fall into the left. Grab the nose of the football with your right hand and the tail with your left and tuck it away to the side away from the nearest defender. On a pass to your left, reverse all right's and left's in the above description. -

If it is third down, catching the ball is most important. Don't think about running with it. Just get to the first down marker and catch the ball. Remember, it is better to catch the ball, get plastered and get the first down than to drop the ball! -

Remember, you have to have the ball before you can run with it. Always make sure you have the ball before you turn to run upfield. Some people will turn to run as they are juggling the ball, which (unless you get lucky) turns into an incompletion or sometimes even a fumble. Make sure you have control of the ball, turn upfield, and keep your eyes open. Don't close your eyes right before you get hit, because you might see a teammate next to you that you can toss it to. -

try to make a pocket on the side of your body when you catch the ball you have a less chance of missing the catch and a less chance of getting hurt
