on 9/19/2008 Rats are nasty creatures that indanger your childrens health and wellbeing. Squirrels do not. It may be inhumane, but when it comes to the well being of your family, do what ever it takes. Think about this, what's more important, a rodent's life or your child's.

on 7/6/2008 You listed gift bows, tissue paper, ribbon, and wrapping paper. How were these items used?

on 7/6/2008 Sorry to say, this does NOT sound like a natural way to rid your house of rodents. Perhaps keeping food put away and closing up holes in your house you may be unaware of. But, the glue traps are just inhumane. Rats may seem yucky to us, but they are just doing what they know to do. And, all animals have a right to their lives. Rodents do not naturally carry lots of diseases. Squirrels are just rats with fluffy tails. No one goes around scared and wanting to kill those little guys. Try not being afraid of nature, that will work best! P.S. Many house pets die long dreadful deaths as a result of eating poisoned rodents. Not a good idea! I vote for the mint, very clever idea!

on 10/4/2007 Leave cats out of this -- they can get fleas and tapeworms from the mice.

And as for cats killing songbirds-- get real-- I've seen ONE bulldozer ddstroy the habitats of THOUSANDS of songbirds in TWO days-- NO CAT COULD EVER DO THIS MUCH DAMAGE!! Oh Thank you so much for destroying this earth, members of Man" KIND" (not!!!)

on 10/4/2007 I've also found that spraying bleach around the areas where they travel often keeps them away.

on 9/30/2007 Cats are helpful indoors but should not be let out - as pointed out, cats (even declawed ones!!) annually kill millions of songbirds and other birds, not to mention millions of other animals, some whose populations are already low. The suggestion of "...try to discourage the capture of wild birds..." would be hilarious if not so tragically emblematic of our willingness to overlook the serious consequences of our actions: are we supposed to lecture our cats? ("Now Fluffy - leave the birds alone...") For info on keeping cats happy indoors, see: http://www.abcbirds.org/cats/.

on 7/17/2007 We have birds and bird seed in our house built in the 70's, with probably lots of holes in it .It would be impossible to plug all of them.We We are down to one mouse as far as I know? He goes through our kitchen cupboards and leaves deposits in the silverware drawers. Why? There is no food in there. Any suggestions that are safe for us and our birds? We recently renovated our whole kitchen but that didn't stop him. we have tried the ultrasonic devices with varying success. Putting smelly stuff in the drawers was messy, time consuming and did no good.We put plastic covers over the silverware trays . He now lifts them up and poops int the tray again. We remove bird food from the cages each night . .I have considered putting beer in the drawer but he might die there. We don't want to kill just get rid of him.Beer worked in England. Any safe but effective suggestions?

on 4/26/2007 Regarding snakes -- when I lived in upstate NY I was told by several people that old-timers simply slipped a garter snake into their attics or crawlspaces to control pests. I got hung up on wondering how the snake could get out, so never tried it.

on 4/26/2007 There are two problems with using glue traps. The first is that they are barbarous -- the mice struggle frantically to free themselves until they die of exhaustion. The second is that while they are struggling, they are also urinating and defecating, thus loosing any viruses or other pathogens they may be harboring into your household air.
