Lightly brush the spot with a stiff bristled toothbrush. Doing this seems to break up the blood and get it going again. Using the toothbrush method reduced my hickey in seconds, and after about an hour, it was gone.

Day 1: Ice the hickey (it shrinks the blood vessels). Day 2 (or second half of day one): Apply a hot towel and pressure (this gets the trapped blood flowing).

Getting a hickey when you're 22 is embarrassing. Being a biology major at my university, and doing my studies on the human anatomy, I know a thing or two about blood circulation, damaged or broken blood vessels, and how they heal. Here is the best way to rid yourself of a hickey in a few easy steps:
1. Apply a warm compress to the hickey (one of those magic bags you place into the microwave) for 10- 20 minutes. This will warm the blood under the surface of the hickey and allow the blood flow to increase. This will then allow the broken blood vessels to receive more red blood cells, which speeds healing. 2. After the compress is removed, cover the hickey with a thin layer of Vaseline (I know this sounds weird, but trust me, it works). This provides the skin with a slippery covering that will protect the skin and allow for step #3 to be done perfectly. 3) Find a highlighter (everyone has one somewhere). Roll it (lengthwise) over the hickey in all directions. Apply firm pressure, as this will spread the healing blood vessels over a large area (as if you were rolling out cookie dough). Do this for 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there, whenever you have spare time. After a few times of doing this, reapply Vaseline to lubricate the skin's surface when needed. That hickey will appear lighter and full healing will be over and done with in fractions of the time.

Get a lipstick cap and rub the cap in a circular motion on your hickey. If you do it constantly for 30 minutes it will fade away. Remember to press the cap on your neck hard, and rotate it on your neck!

I had one of the darkest hickeys ever and I wanted to get rid of it before it was seen. The spoon idea and the toothpaste tip all seemed strange to me. I put heat on the hickey, and a wet washcloth. Rub the area with a bit of pressure (while you're applying the heat), take a comb and comb it for a little while, then go back to the washcloth. Within about 2 hours I can barely tell it's there! I was patient and tried this method, and it did worked for me. Apparently the bristles of the comb help to break up the blood and get it away from the surface of the skin. I found that ice just made it darker, but heat and a comb did it for me!

I got in big trouble when my Mom spotted my hickey. I typed in Google "quick ways to get rid of hickeys." I tried the frozen spoon and it didn't work, I tried the toothpaste and that worked a little bit. Then, I got a freezing cold washcloth, I put it on the hickey for 30 seconds, dried it, then got a pencil eraser and turned it all over the hickey. I put the washcloth back on it, and it totally faded away. Thanks!

I was actually pinched on the neck, which was not a hickey, but looked like one. I used ice for about 20 minutes. I put toothpaste on the area and waited for the toothpaste to dry. Afterward I used hot water on a towel and applied pressure to the area. Within an hour it was just a light red area.

I filled the bath tub with water, and took a relaxing bath as I got rid of my hickeys. Alternate between the washcloth (the bathwater stays warm longer), and the comb. My family didn't disturb me at all, so I had a lot of time to scrub at the multiple bruises on my neck and chest. By the end of the bath, the areas were red, but that faded soon after and now they are easily covered with concealer and powder. You have to use this technique longer for darker hickeys. It didn't hurt me to use the comb after the washcloth warmed my skin, which was good. Good luck!

I got a hickey (not my first, but the first visible one ever), and didn't want anyone to find out. I remembered that a friend had combed her neck vigorously and gotten rid of her massive hickeys the same day. As soon as I got in my car I started brushing my neck. I kept brushing the whole trip (to get concealer) and then again all the way home. It went from a hickey to a red mark to gone! It takes 3 hrs to go away, and you have to brush hard. Not hard enough to rub off your skin, but really hard.

Take a quarter and place the edge of the quarter firmly against the skin. Run the quarter up and down over the hickey until the skin turns red from the rubbing. You could also go left and right, after going up and down. Doing this allows the blood to be spread through the skin. Boxers use techniques like this to keep swelling down on their faces. I had done this a whole day after a girl had latched onto my neck and left a huge brown hickey.

I looked through this site, desperately trying to find a hickey removal solution before my parents came home. I found one that really works. Put some toothpaste on the hickey, take a hair brush and brush the hickey in an up and down motion. After doing this (with tooth paste still on), take an eraser and rotate it so that it goes half way, then make it go the opposite direction. Do this all around the hickey. Trust me, it really worked!

This method might be a little painful. Use a Chapstick or a lip gloss tube to press on the hickey, twist in a downward motion until the hickey is gone. After you've finished, add ice and cover with makeup. The area might be red for a couple minutes. If it's too painful. apply ice before you try to twist the hickey. If it's still too painful, just forget it.

Put a spoon in the freezer for an hour or two, and put it on the hickey until the area becomes numb. Make sure your skin is dry, take the eraser on a pencil and push it onto the hickey. Apply pressure and turn the eraser about halfway back and forth. Do this on and around the hickey. The hickey will actually disappear right before your eyes!

on 11/22/2005 Use any toothpaste you have around your house and put it on the hickey. It might sting a bit, but it works.
