I tried the hot compress and toothpaste, but neither really showed a lot of improvement. I also used the toothbrush, which did help with bood circulation, but again didn't do too much. The best method that I found was putting ice on the hickey and then rubbing it with a spoon.

Take a washcloth or dish towel and wet it. Ring it out till damp. Put it in the microwave for 30 second and apply to the hickey. Keep on till the washcloth is cool. Repeat every hour for four hours. It will be noticeably lighter, and gone within a day. I did this late at night, went to bed and it was almost gone by morning. All it took were a few more applications and it was gone by the evening.

Get lotion (any kind, aloe works best) and put it in the microwave for just a few seconds. Massage the lotion on the bruised area for about 1-3 minutes. You may want to do this more than once.

I know of a product soon to be released on the market called "Hickeystick". Having taken part in the trials for this product I can hand on heart say that it works! I was given a deep purple bite on my neck and for me personally it would have taken at least a week to disappear, with Hickeystick applied twice daily it was almost completely gone within 3 days (by the third day it was easily covered with concealer). I have tried the other methods, such as toothpaste, Arnica cream and the hot cold compresses, and none came anywhere near as good as this product; and it was less painful!

Rub some sugar paste (sugar and water) on your neck for 2 minutes. Then wipe off the paste and apply a hot rag onto the hickey and massage it with a spoon or comb. After a couple of minutes of massaging, use the pencil eraser technique. Then in about 20 to 30 minutes you're hickey free!

Forget the toothpaste. Forget tea bags, sugar water, all that nonsense. Here's what you need to do: Fold a wash cloth in half, then fold again so it's in quarters. Wet it, squeeze a lot of the excess water out, and put it in a bowl. Put this in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds. it's going to be hot. Let it sit for a second or two then apply directly and firmly to the hickey. Hold it there till the cloth becomes cold. Next - take a cold can of soda (I suppose a cold spoon would work too) and roll it firmly over the area for a few minutes. Finally - Take a pencil eraser, place it in the center of the hickey and twist it around clockwise, then counter. Not too hard, you'll make it worse. You can literally watch the hickey fade before your eyes. Repeat as necessary.

Believe it or not, the brush and the eraser thing works. I had the most horrible black and blue hickey on my neck. I iced the spot, dried it, and applied pressure with a pencil eraser and rotated it back and forth. It's practically taken the purple out of the hickey and now its just red. Then brush the heck out of it! I found that the brush works best on red hickeys, and the pencil eraser takes away the purple.

Take a green teabag and put it in hot water. Remove the teabag and lay it on the hickey. It take the redness out and the swelling goes down. It works like a charm.

Trying to get rid of one at the moment using Hirudoid. The active ingredient is heparinoid, a substance similar to heparin. I first encountered the stuff after the blood bank accidentally ruptured a blood vessel in my arm, this is the cream they gave me. I have no idea if it's available over the counter, but it's a very effective hospital treatment to make bruises disappear.

But the one i found worked the best was the eraser one, start in the middle and work out wards, then use the comb trick, followed by hot and cold compresses, and then repeat, repeat, repeat. on 3/30/2006 I only had a couple hours to get rid of my 4 hickeys before a job interview, here is what I did:
Start off applying pressure with an eraser, meanwhile freeze a spoon,
warm up a hot towel and apply.
Rub the spoon on the hickeys.
Get the towel warm, I mean really warm, it may only be a towel, but it can also be your life preserver.

on 11/22/2005 Try the eraser trick, it won't make it disappear, but it will lighten a really dark, purplish hickey. Follow up with a warm compress.

on 11/22/2005 The only thing I'd suggest, and this is only if you do it right after it forms, is alternate between icing it and heating it.
