on 11/22/2005 I had to get rid of my hickey, because there was a dance coming up and I had a game, and I would get in trouble with the coaches. My grandmother told me that Vicks Vaporub always fixes everything. I took it to heart, and I put Vicks Vaporub on my hickey. Then, I took the round end of some lipstick and moved it in a circular motion, and it is a lot less dark than it was. Vicks Vaporub fixes everything!

on 11/22/2005 This trick here only works for light hickeys. Take some Chapstick and put a lot on your hickey. Then put the cap back on and rub in a circular motion. This causes the blood to flow again. It will lighten up almost to the color of your skin and you won't even be able to tell it's there.

on 11/22/2005 Put mayonnaise on the attacked area and brush over it with a comb. This seriously works.

Or, have someone suck your entire neck so that it looks like a rash.

on 11/22/2005 I used the eraser trick and it worked immediately. Put some toothpaste on the hickey, then rub the hickey with a hairbrush in an up-down motion. Now here's the most important part: Take the eraser end of a pencil (make sure it's a nearly new eraser, or else it will hurt a LOT) and turn it in the locking/unlocking a door motion, in little circles back and forth. Do this until it goes away.

on 11/22/2005 I just tried the frozen spoon trick but it doesn't make sense to freeze it for an hour or a night or whatever. What I did was I took a cup full of ice, put some water in it and just alternated between a couple minutes of rubbing my hickey with the spoon and then putting it back in the ice water to cool it down.

on 11/22/2005 Chances are, you will NOT stop the make-out session to apply ice in a reasonable time. However, when your significant other looks at you and says "Uh-oh...you're going to kill me...There is a hickey on the side of your neck," IMMEDIATELY give him/her a dirty look (you know what I'm talking about), check out the battle wound, and then take a wash cloth, wet it, and heat it in the microwave. Keep the damp heat (as hot as you can stand it without wounding yourself further) on it. You may have to go through the heat-apply-break sessions a few times to see results. But it works. I like to use a combination arsenal as well. The whole lip-stick tube and spreading it out also tends to make things heal faster. At the end of your adventures, if there is still a little bit of pink or red, go to Wal-Mart. In the cosmetics department, there is a brand called "Physicians Formula." They make a concealer stick that is green on one side and yellow on the other. The green evens out the redness, and the yellow lightens up any purple tones left. You will have to cover lightly with a foundation, so guys, you may not be willing to go this far. Good Luck!

on 11/22/2005 I've had quite a few hickeys before, and every single time I do the same exact thing. I take an old dishtowel, fold it up into thirds, and stick it in the microwave for about 2.5 minutes. It gets pretty hot, but it works. It's just like the warm compress, but it lasts a lot longer. After one side cools down, reflip it to expose another part. Best of luck!

on 11/22/2005 When I got my first hickey, I flipped out. I had no idea what to do, so I went onto Google and typed in "How to Get Rid of a Hickey" and this is what it got me. I tried almost everything, except for the frozen spoon thing. What I did was ice it that night for about 15-20 minutes. After I woke up, I tried the lipstick cap trick and penny but that didn't work for me. The heated up towel helped, icing helped, but the toothpaste didn't do much (it just felt good). The brush helped the best. It took only 2 days and it already went down a LOT. Sure, I was a dork and tried every trick in the book, but it faded. Good luck!

on 11/22/2005 I tried the ice, which didn't work. I tried the comb, which worked but not enough. And then I tried the warm towel, which made it almost disappear! It was still a light shade of red, so I "neutralized" it with a small amount of green makeup and finished it off with concealer and foundation. It's gone!

on 11/22/2005 All these things might work, but I was sitting here with my girlfriend (with a hickey) trying to figure out a way to remove it so her mom wouldn't see, and I was like "WAIT! Do you have a temporary tattoo?" We found one and put that on her neck and you can't notice the hickey at all. It works 100%. Note: you must have a big enough tattoo for the hickey.

on 11/22/2005 Use witch hazel. Soak a makeup pad or cotton ball with the witch hazel and put it on the spot. I held it on the spot for quite a while. I did it twice throughout the day, then smeared the area with aloe before bed. It is just about totally gone. If you use witch hazel with aloe blended in, you apparently get better results. It works great!

on 11/22/2005 Find a long, bendable straw or tube and place one end on the center of the hickey and the other end in your mouth. Rather than sucking, blow with all your might. This will reverse the initial cause (sucking) and push all the collected blood out of the area.

on 11/22/2005 Get a piece of ice and rub the hickey constantly for 30 minutes with the ice. It reduces it a lot more than before. The next day, get a hot towel and hold it to against your hickey. This is because ice helps to restore the flow of your blood by clearing out the weak or dead blood cells that have been damaged and replacing them with new ones. The warm towel helps to get the blood flowing back into your your vessels. It works really well.

on 11/22/2005 Rub some sugar paste (sugar and water) on your neck for 2 minutes, then wipe the paste off and apply a hot rag onto the hickey and massage it with a spoon or comb. I promise, this really works...It went almost away in about 10 minutes!

on 11/22/2005 Here's what works for me:
1. Ice it as soon as you see it- the sooner you catch it, the better. Do it for 15 minutes.
2. Gently massage the mark with a fine tooth comb. Maybe this works, maybe it doesn't, but I do it just in case! Do it for about 2 minutes.
3. Apply toothpaste to the red areas. Once again, I'm not sure if this works, but I know that it gets rid of the red in pimples, so I do it just in case! Keep it on until it dries, then wipe it off gently with a wet cloth or tissue.
4. Get a heating pad. Keep the heat on the area for as long as you want. If you don't have a heating pad, try using Thermacare patches. Even the menstrual cramp ones work and they last for 8 hours! Feel free to sleep on the pad and remove it whenever you get hot.
5. Use make-up. If you caught your hickey soon enough, it should be a very light red/pink by now, so all you need is a little make-up to fix it. If it's still really noticeable, just wear a turtle neck or scarf. Sometimes you can even hide them by wearing your hair down, if it's long enough.

I hope this works as well for you as it does for me!
