on 2/13/2007 One in important point to remember when preparing a speech, is to try to speak about something that you are passionate about. This will enhance the deliverance of the speech.

on 9/18/2006 When making a speech that is aimed toward kids or teens remember this: they won't listen if it's boring. Make your speech interesting by adding jokes, or saying lines off of popular TV shows. Don't make insane promises, for they will only torment you later about them. Keep it brief, but formal. Short and sweet. Good luck!

on 8/8/2006 Don't make the speech too long or the people will lose interest. Try to memorize the speech so you don't look down too often at your paper. Focus.

on 8/8/2006 You shouldn't practice until you memorize your speech. Know your main points well and know the smaller information for each point. This way if you get lost you can remember your main points and go from there.

on 8/8/2006 Relax. Be as calm as you possibly can. If you think calmly you will speak calmly. Control your breathing and maintain eye contact with all of your audience. If you get nervous before, take a few deep breathes, close your eyes, and count down backward from 10.

on 8/8/2006 I write my speech around 16 times before choosing one. Then I go over all of them with books, like Thesauruses, dictionaries, etc.

Once I didn't check my work, and in front of the whole school I said a word that I didn't know, and they all started to crack up. I was so embarrassed and I wasn't even half way through the speech!

on 8/8/2006 If you are doing an election speech, make it funny or tell a story. Use props, such as a funny hat. Believe it or not, this works. It gets people's attention and they remember you when they go to the polls.

on 8/8/2006 Talk to people who have done successful speeches. Listen to the tips they give you, then see which tips you can apply to improve your speech. Read your changed speech to the person(s) and see what they think. Remember, you don't have to use their tips and suggestions. If you think the tip/suggestion won't improve your speech, don't use it. Also, expect one person to say one thing and another to say the opposite. For some people one thing has worked and for another person it has not.

on 7/20/2006 Do not rate all your most important points first. If you do so, listeners may not listen well to your conclusion. Rate them in order of 1 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 5.
