on 8/8/2006 Give an envelope to the person responsible for recording the gifts. As the bride opens her gifts, put the gift receipts in the envelope so they don't accidentally get thrown out with the wrapping paper and bags. When everyone has left the shower, tape all the receipts to the matching item. If the bride gets a duplicate item, or if she needs to return or exchange an item, she won't have to shuffle through receipts or keep up with them!

on 8/8/2006 Pass out the envelopes to the Thank You cards and have everyone address them with their name and address. This way you're sure not to forget anyone and it saves the bride a lot of precious time.

on 11/22/2005 Instead of using a notebook to record gifts, just write down the gift on the card that came with it, that way there is less writing.

on 11/22/2005 Tape a envelope to a smaller notebook to use for recording gifts. Put the money received in the envelope and there is no chance of accidently misplacing or throwing it away.

on 11/22/2005 It's only in bad taste to send out information on your own gift registry, not someone else's. That's why you should never include it in your own wedding invitations, but it's perfectly acceptable in invitations you send for someone else's shower.

on 11/22/2005 Some people already have dishes and toasters when they get married...consider having a garden or houseplant theme. Guests could bring a plant or gardening gift, or even cuttings from one of their own plants or a book on planting trees...lots of options.

on 11/22/2005 Save some money on invitations by sending Evites (www.evite.com) or printing up your own. Either way, you can be more personal and free up some extra money to use for more food or decorations.

on 11/22/2005 We actually created a Web site our friends and family could access. We thanked our shower hosts and hostesses, posted directions, gave an overview of how we met, posted pictures, and gave info on where we were registered. It was great!

on 11/22/2005 Including a copy of a gift registry for any occasion is bad manners! Regardless of what some may say, this upsets guests. If a guest wants to know where the bride and groom are registered, they will ask.
