Comments on How to Reduce Stretch Marks

  • starfire21 Dec 17, 2009
In 1999 I got a few stretch marks across my lower abdomen with my first child. In May 2009 I had the Smart Lipo procedure to get rid of stubborn fat on my tummy and waistline. I'm so glad I did it. Now I have my small waist and flat belly back. Woohoo! Also, my skin is tighter and firm now! Oh yeah, and for some reason my stretch marks are way less noticeable and have faded to my natural skin tone. Maybe it has something to do with collagen production which is promoted by Smart Lipo. I don't know. Though it was designed to remove unwanted fat, I feel it's possible that Smart Lipo may also help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Seriously! I can show my tummy again!!!!! :)

I began using the Dr Max Powers "Stretch Mark Treatment" every single day about two months ago and it works WONDERS. First you can use it for stretch marks and you can use it for scars and to moisturize your face and neck, ladies! You must follow the instructions even though they are pretty simple. If I am using this for acne scars, skin discolorations (sun exposure), uneven skin tone I apply either over makeup (may not be recommended as this could remove your makeup)and on a freshly washed face. I use the lengths of my fingers not fingertips since they produce the oils that could cause you breakouts from YES touching your face. I rub into the affected area or scar (even works on cystic acne scars) atleast two to three times a day when I am able to. But if not I do this at night before going to bed. Be patient and wait one to two weeks before you notice a big difference as the ...

Try emu oil. I have been researching the benefits of it. I reaches deep down into the layers of the skin to heal it. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it may work well. Maybe mixing it with other oils like vit E, lavender, flaxseed, or rosehip oil may help.

All the people that have posted before me are lucky. I have tried everything and mine are still very noticeable...oh well. The only thing that worked somewhat well for me was Barmon. Vitamin E Capsules are so sticky I hate them! Palmers did absolutely nothing for me at all. I may try soft-e but I don't like most scented lotion. Good luck to others that have this problem.

I read up a lot about using a laser for removing my stretch marks-it says: Lasers are effective in removing, vaporizing, and breaking down tissues. They do not generally repair tissues. Stretch marks represent torn tissue. Hence, improvement should not be expected from laser treatment. Hope this helps anyone. Using cocoa butter lotion during pregnancy helps prevent them (my BF applied it daily-no stretch marks).

Stretch marks are a real hindrance to feeling self confident. That said, there are many women and men who have them, but that does not make one feel any better per se. The one thing that I absolutely suggest to any one who is concerned with the possibility of getting stretch marks is stay out of the sun and tanning beds. This damages and weakens collagen fibers. Also, make sure to eat a healthy diet with protein. Protein is essential for skin health and repair. Vitamin C and zinc are also tremendously important to skin health and repair, as well. In terms of getting rid of stretch marks -Retin-A will help to some degree, but you have to be very diligent about using it. It make take more than 6 months to see slight results, but it is well worth trying. There is a cosmetic clinic in Beverly Hills California called EPIONE headed by Dr.Ourian. According to some media he has a treatment that utilizes the Coolbeam laser that is suppose to help a great deal. I hope this info is of some help.
