BET YOU HAVEN'T TRIED THIS! Fume Free Easy Off Oven Cleaner in the BLUE CAN. NOT the yellow can. The BLUE CAN FUME FREE is made with a non toxic solution that will not harm fiberglass, metal, stainless steel etc. The yellow can is acid based and can cause damage. Spray the bottom of the tub first since the can will not spray properly when tilted once the can is more than half empty. Let it sit for a couple of hours, I myself let it sit overnight. Then, the amazing part! Get a medium stiffness nylon brush. I use one that is actually for scrubbing car tires, turn on the shower and rinse with the water and scrub(I use the term lightly!) with the brush and your jaw will hit the floor when you see how easily the scum comes off! The first time I tried it was out of desperation trying to clean a fiberglass shower that a couple of tenants hadn’t cleaned in five years. I thought for sure the ...

Just use a fresh single edge razor blade on glass or tiles...works great and no fumes. Spray the residue away after you're done scraping. This is much faster and safer than using chemicals, neater and you don't need gloves.

Mr. Clean Eraser and Palmolive Gel Diswashing Detergent worked for me. Do it exactly the way SHALYMAR413 instructs. It didn't even take a lot of effort.

After reading about the Mr. Clean eraser tip, I had to try it right away -- it was amazing and easy. We're in the process of selling our house, so I'm a real fanatic about spotless cleanliness, and this truly did the trick.
OK, SO I'VE TRIED ALMOST EVERYTHING: KABOOM, SHOUT, WATER/VINEGAR MIX, MR. CLEAN ERASER, DRYER SHEET (WHICH LEFT A SMALL SCRATCH IN THE GLASS), ETC... I FINALLY CAME ACROSS A SUGGESTION: MR. CLEAN ERASER + A LITTLE DISHWASHING DETERGENT... I THOUGHT 'WHAT THE HECK' I HAD ALREADY TRIED MR. CLEAN ERASER BY ITSELF, WHY NOT... TRIED IT... IT WAS AWESOME... THIS IS HOW I DID IT...
1. APPLIED A LITTLE BIT OF DISHWASHING DETERGENT TO THE CENTER OF A MR. CLEAN ERASER.
2. APPLIED TO MY GLASS DOORS.
3. USED A WET TOWEL TO WIPE THE SOAP OFF (IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING, THE TOWEL WAS WHITE, ALTHOUGH I DON'T THINK THAT MATTERS.)
4. USED ANOTHER TOWEL TO WIPE DRY.
IT LEFT THE DOORS SPARKLING CLEAN! NO SOAP SCUM, NO RESIDUE, NO STREAKS... THEY LOOKED EXACTLY THE WAY THEY DID WHEN WE FIRST INSTALLED THEM.

Easiest of all. I got rid of my glass doors years ago (too much work) and bought fabric shower curtains. Remove them and throw them into the washing machine, maybe once a month or so. They last for years until you get sick of looking at them and buy new colors!

I have found that using rubbing alcohol works terrific for removing soap scum. Sometimes a soap scum will prevent hard mineral cleaner from working properly. Remove the soap scum first and then use a mineral cleaner if needed.
on 8/14/2007
And for those of us that don't want to worry about adequate ventilation, protective gear, potentially hazardous chemical reactions, and overnight projects: Bring-It-ON cleaner. Darned amazing stuff.

After removing soap scum polish tiles with Jubilee and glass with rain x. Use a squeegee each time you finish showering, also great tip to teach children. (train early)

I tried several cleaners, then turned to the Internet to try your suggestions. I bought some KABOOM tile and bathroom cleaner. It instructed me to spray on the surface and leave on for one to five minutes. Much to my surprise, a paper towel took off all of those layers of scum with no harm to the tub or glass.
